I have a 2018 Samsung Lcd that the Hdmi ports were rendered useless due to a close by lightning strike. After the usual attempts i.e. powering down,unplugging, power,factory reset,etc. all 4 ports are apparently fried. I have 2 usb ports on the tv that still function. Google searches don't provide a lot on the subject,so I come to the the board wondering if a usb to hdmi hookup to my Direct tv receiver would work. The tv can still stream so I'm not out of options so to speak. Or it might be time to start giving that LG C2 some serious attention.

what you need is some kind of
USB to HDMI Adapter.
from what i remember thee mainly for pc to tv, but look online for this type item. there should be something listed online stores that would would do the job. it simply a way pass the signal through to the tv. the only issue if any might be sound. because i dont if will carry that with it. i dont remeber what if if it does or not. -

I feel like the USB ports would only work if you have a portable USB drive that stores video/photo files that the TV might be able to play. Not sure they are going to be able to handle a direct video-in feed like you are talking about, but could be wrong.Comment

TV doesn't support video over usb.
Good news is Samsung does have the Directv app, so you can use it to watch TV on it and also have access to your DVR. There is limited functionality as it no longer streams from the DVR but comes from DTV directly.

Thanks for the replies gents. I was able to stream and having Mlb extra innings I was able to get Mlb.tv app streaming also. As I previously mentioned, I pulled the trigger on the Lg C2. Upon getting that hooked up I learned the DTv receiver was shot also. Got that replaced today. Now to figure out the myriad of settings on this tv.
