    RIP Carl Weathers...

I can't believe no one posted anything about this...sad, sad day. RIP Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed)

Carl Weathers, Who Played Apollo Creed in ‘Rocky’ Movies, Dies at 76
A former pro linebacker, he had a long acting career that reached beyond the boxing ring, appearing in action films, comedies and TV dramas and earning an Emmy nomination.

Carl Weathers, who went from doling out bone-crunching hits as a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders to delivering knockout punches on the big screen as Apollo Creed, the nemesis of Sylvester Stallone’s lovable-lug prizefighter in “Rocky,” helping to spark one of Hollywood’s most successful franchises, died on Thursday. He was 76.

His family said in a statement that he “died peacefully in his sleep.” The statement did not give a cause or say where he died.

Mr. Weathers had a long and varied acting career that took him far beyond the boxing ring. He displayed his range over some 80 film and television credits. Starting in the 2000s, he memorably parodied himself as an acting coach on the sitcom “Arrested Development.” In more recent years he was the voice of Combat Carl in the animated movie “Toy Story 4” and played Greef Karga in the “Star Wars” television series “The Mandalorian,” earning an Emmy Award nomination in 2021 for outstanding guest actor in a drama series.
Earlier, in the Adam Sandler golf comedy “Happy Gilmore” (1996), Mr. Weathers earned laughs as Chubbs, who had been a star of the professional circuit before he lost his hand in an alligator attack.

Just realized he was in a bunch of those FanDuel ads with Gronk for the SB. Just saw a new one air today too.

He definitely would've been part of the actual bit next week too. Wonder if there's stuff they filmed already for next weekend they'll have to change up now since it would be pretty awkward doing a "live" video ad break with someone who obviously wouldn't be there live.

Really liked him as an actor. His big roles sure, but also stuff like Action Jackson. Was one of those actors that when I was always happy to see pop up in something I was watching. RIP.

          Loved Carl Weathers.

Part of my childhood just died.

          May he rest in peace.

Rocky 4 and Predator, two of my all time favorites, and Carl Weathers was a big reason.

Because of those recent ads I was surprised to hear of Carl's death.

                RIP to Carl Weathers

Action Jackson, Rocky III and The Predator are the go to films for me from him. He did a lot of great work during my childhood years and it is greatly appreciated.

Definitely sounds like they have to redo the SB ad. Wouldn't be surprised to see them pull any ad with him in it. Just keep that boardroom one with Gronk and Cena.

Mandalorian for sure will have him in it. Not that they'll edit him out, but will be different watching new episodes with him in it months from now.
