Honestly, at this point I wish they'd bring Brian back at the end of this season and make it a series finale.

I read an article where McFarlane said he wished FG was already over, and that 7 or 8 seasons is about right for the run of an animated show, but they can't pass up the ratings that FG still brings in.

It was a good run, but the show has gone downhill lately, I have to wonder if this is McFarlane (or MacFarlane, I can never remember) kind of trying to speed up the process of ending the show.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I wish the whole McFarlane/Flintstones deal hadn't fallen apart. I think he would've brought an interesting post-modern take to that property and I think he'd have enough respect for said property not to completely piss all over it with random (and sometimes offensive) cutaway gags.

They really need to find a way to end FG before it hits the nadir that The Simpsons fell into and has never quite recovered from though it's a lot better than it was in it's darkest days.

Don't know about your latter point, but he's definitely going to appear in flashback sequences, you know what I mean? So he still lives in spirit regardless, it's not like he's completely gone.

And for me, it's not so much about Brian dying. It's about them getting this new Italian mutt, Vinny. If they lost Brian, hey that's a big thing; so was losing Cleveland and Diane Simmons. But they're adding a character to replace him. I'm glad they didn't replace Cleveland with Jerome, and I'm glad Tom Tucker got a new co-anchor, but Joyce Kinney isn't a strong replacement by any means. We'll see how much Vinny does for the show, whether it's good or bad... but right now that's where I'm more at a loss. I don't know if Vinny will do good for it. He might if he's more a buddy with Peter's gang than with Stewie.

In short, I'm willing to give the change a shot. If FG is on its last legs anyway, what difference will it make?

That was fast. I had a feeling they'd probably do this during Christmas episode, but I thought it'd be Stewie asking for something to fix his time machine. Either way, just seemed like this whole thing was one big stunt by Family Guy to try and redraw interest in the show. Still not gonna make me interested in watching future episodes unless episode preview sounds awesome(next episode I was is probably whenever Cleveland is back)

Loved the premiere last week also, Stewie is so the man though Lol. Kinda wish they did more cross overs from time to time.
