Am I the Only One MOST Excited for the Revolution?

Ok, get your sarcastic "yes" comments out of the way, lazy posters out there, haha.

Anyway, my excitement is directly tied to the fact that we know almost nothing concrete about this console. While some are frustrated by the secrecy/privacy of Nintendo, I consider it intriguing.

I am not a Nintendo "fanboy". I owned an NES(ok, everyone did), but I never had an SNES, any Gameboy variety, or an N64. I only had my Gamecube for a short time before I got rid of every piece of gaming equipment that I own. In that short time, I realized that I am mostly in line with Nintendo's overarching philosophy. I love the exclusives, don't care much about online play(although I think it should be included-I had Xbox live, but used it mostly for roster downloads-only played NCAA 2005 and Halo 2 a few times, and cancelled it 5 months before my 49.95 year was up), and I feel it's games are engrossing and innovative, with "good enough" graphics for me. And I'm no "kiddy" playing on a 13 incher, I'm a 23 year old that had my Xbox hooked up with component cables to my HDTV and surround sound.

Add to this the recently released pictures, and the fact that it seems like there will be some innovative features of the console, along with a comparatively low price point(I don't game enough anymore to justify $400 dollars to get my console set up), makes me most excited for the Revolution. Anyone with me?

Yes. I owned both the N64 and the Gamecube and had horrible experiences with both of them (the N64 was an unmitigated disaster, the GC was a nice piece of hardware that just didn't have anything I wanted to play on it). At this point it's sunk in- I have zero interest in Nintendo's first party titles. And considering the lousy third party support Nintendo has gotten in the past, there just isn't anything appealing about the Revolution. I play sports games, I play primarily online. Needless to say, Nintendo hasn't been fitting the bill for me.

I am excited about it. I will probably get one for sure. I like the fact you can download old games. Can't wait to play some old Little League World Series.

Re: Am I the Only One MOST Excited for the Revolution?

Well, although it seems to directly contradict everything I just posted, I am primarily a sports gamer.

If the Revolution has good sports support(the 2K hockey and basketball titles, the EA football titles, a tennis game), I will get it and nothing else. I HAVE to have my sports games, and the gamecube seriously lacked there(the controller didn't bother me, just the lack of titles, and small memory cards).

But, I also want the Zelda's, the Mario's, Super Monkey Ball, and the Kart games(call me nostalgic), and I would play those much more than any Gran Turismo, GTA, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid, or FPS. I don't like games that are "easier" to beat, but "easier" in the sense of pick-up-and-play, and Nintendo seems to have more of those.

Then again, I might get a PS3 just to get a Blu-ray player in my house(if it ultimately has it, of course). XBox 360 is the one I'm least likely to get.

          Interesting...

Revolution will be "two-to-three times more powerful than GameCube," according to Nintendo, which also acknowledges that the next-generation race isn't solely about new technologies. By contrast, Microsoft's Xbox 360 console is 13-15 times more powerful than the first, according to the publisher. And Sony says it's PlayStation 3 is roughly 35 times more powerful than PlayStation 2.

I've also heard that it might not have a Hard Drive, nor will it support High Def. I'm sure I'll end up getting it at some point, but there's no way I can rely on it as my "main" gaming console.

PS2 was the weakest system out of the 4 horsemen, Xbox, and in a close second GC, DC, then PS2

Um, the PS2 was superior to DC.

I think i read somewhere that the Revolution was not getting anything from EA.

So unless the Revolution will be $150 or less...I'm not even thinking about picking one up. I have my old 64 and original NES if I want to go retro.

I'm not excited for the revolution at all. I don't like how nintendo tries to tell me what I like(online play) and all the hyping about how revolutionary it is when it really isn't as revolutionary as they are making it out to be. And I'm really sick of the same ranchises over and over. And the fact that it might not have a hard drive, and it doesn't make sense for me to get it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I'll get it, I'm a sucker for nintendo stuff. When is it coming out? I hope a Mario game is a launch title!

I play mostly sport games so that automatically rules out Nintendo Revolution as my main console. They haven't even announced the controller and that would effect my purchase.

I bought the GameCube near launch and later traded it in to get an Xbox.

I'm leaning towards getting the Xbox 360. If I get a 2nd console I'm not sure which one I will get. I do like the idea of being able to dl the old games but I'm hoping that includes 3rd party games too. I grew up playing NES (I even had the Jap version) so retro games have a lot of appeal for me.
