          Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

This game is the sole reason why I want the XBOX 360. Even then I still dont really care about the 360 because I have a PC thats more the willing to run this game.

All I need in my life is a room with a tv in it, a XBOX/PC and Oblivion and come get me when the earth is in danger.

I think that statement is the reason why the earth IS in danger.

i've always loved the series from the Elder Scrolls. Whether it was Daggerfall or Morrowind. Here's to hoping this newest one is along the same vein.

Yes, Good Stuff. We know the graphics, the sound, the high level of customization will all be top notch, but I expect the dynamic nature/A.I. of the NPC's(and hopefully the monsters/villians as well) to be the component of the game that really shines and hopefully takes single player RPG's to a new level of immersion and interaction.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

That's what got me. How the NPC's are treated just like the PC's. The woman feeding her dog the meat was hysterical. He got Attrib boost and went nuts! ....Then the dog annoyed her so she paralyzed him!

</object> In fact, one of the interesting problems that the team has had to face came about precisely because the AI is so good. According to Howard, the AI has caused guards to decide to eat and go hunting deer, only to get themselves arrested for attacking something. When they fight back against the arresting guard, the other guards see a fight and try to join in. In not too much time, every guard in the town was involved in the scuffle, which left the rest of the town open to thievery by other NPCs, resulting in empty stores. Much of the team's current effort is going into putting sensible governors on the AI's behavior to avoid situations like empty stores that would result in situations that wouldn't be fun for the player.
