Developer Factor 5, responsible for games in the Rogue Squadron series and expected to support Microsoft's Xbox 360, has confirmed that it is now to create games exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 3

According to reports, Factor 5 has revealed that it has chosen to focus purely on PS3 because it found the next-gen console's 3.2Ghz Cell chip to offer superior processing power to that of the tech at the core of Xbox 360.

Factor 5 has already worked with Xbox 360, it's said, but the additional power at PS3's heart will give the developer the raw grunt to provide a better game experience and allow the studio to better simulate the real world, the studio stated.

The announcement from Factor 5 has surprised many, especially as it was one of the first companies to voice support for Microsoft's XNA development platform.

Rumors surrounding other big deals such as the likes of Ubisoft and Activision are rolling around the net as well.

Are they even considered a "big developer" ? Not sure how up to date IGN's lists are but they don't have a PS2 or XBox game listed for Factor 5.

One developer and that is an unconfirmed report. And you can forget ubisoft or activision leaving the xbox 360, they develop for every system. Are you trying to be a ps3 crusader or something?

Edit: And what I want to know is how a developer wouldn't know the power of a system that they are making games for. Obviously they aren't big since they didn't get any information regarding the specs.

Well, if its true its good news for Sony to some degree. It means that some developer, who even if they haven't seen the final version of any console probably has a better idea of what they will be able to do than the guys writing all these articles, thinks the PS3 will be significantly more powerful.

Unless:
1. It isn't true
2. They signed a exclusive deal with Sony for other financial reasons and its now in their best interest to say anything good they can about the PS3.

That said, I don't think Nazi Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels could have done a better job of writing an intentionally misleading Title.

Not really the point I was talking about, but that's true I suppose. LucasArts owns the rights to Star Wars though, so the developers are limited to who LA wants.

If Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is Factor 5's "claim to fame" though, thats not really worthy to care about IMO. SW: RS is a good series, but its not a series to buy a console for. There's at least 3 or 4 RS titles out anyway, and there's only so much they can do with that series, considering every title has the "epic battles of Ep. 4-6." The RS series is running out to say the least, so this all means diddly **** to me as a gamer and a Star Wars fan.

Factor 5 said the Gamecube was the most powerful last gen, and look how that turned out.

Ubisoft and Activsion are already far in developement with alot of Xbox 360 titles.

Title needs to be changed.
