He said its going to be an entertainment machine instead of a gaming machine, but he didn't mention what it could do besides play games. Sounds like he doesn't know what he is talking about or is just trying to confuse us all into thinking PS3 will be a new revolution.

I've the seen the "vision of the PS3"at E3 this past week, and believe you me, sony knows exactly what direction they are heading. If you look in the E3 thread, you will see why I'm leaning towards the PS3, it is truly a media center not a game machine.

Agreed!!! But i just cant pass up on the 360! And i dont want to spend cash out the A$$ im almost sure ill end up with both

What makes it a media center? I keep hearing how the ps3 is supposed to be different but nobody elaborates on it.

There's also been talk of Dvr funtion and a 400gb Hd.

I dont know im still Waiting but i must say i wasnt really watching before E3

look, anything that will have that big a hard drive in it, and have as much extra crap in it. won't cost 300-350 bucks.

Look, I don't want my Playstation to do 1000 things, I Want it to Play GAMES!! and let me watch DVD's.....actually, I don't care if it plays DVD's I have a DVD player....oddly enough it's a SONY...

STOP MAKING MY CONSOLES INTO YUPPIE MACHINES FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN'T BUY SPECIFIC APPLIANCES....

PSX - the once and never "PVR" unit.
Now, it's the Cell and the promise of "creating life" along with other fantastic claims.

I'm sure the PS3 will be an excellent piece of equipment, but for everybody buying the hype from someone specifically trying to sell the PS3 to you, I've got a handful of bridges out here that I'd love to talk to you about...

What is their vision? Could you briefely sum it up for me (I'll try to go through the E3 thread but its long). If the only extra things it can do is DVR and have a hugh hard drive than I don't really see that as a media center.

and the thing about it that is so funny, people tend to forget about all those features and promises once the console is in their homes. At that point, it's all about the games.

If they had a vision I didn't see it anywhere. Hell, I haven't seen any previews of the PS3 with the different media capabilities. You would think Gamespot or IGN or someone would have a feature on it at least. From what the president says, it doesn't matter about codecs or formats, apparently you drop any file without an extension into the PS3 and it automatically knows what to do! That guy again is full of crap.

I can assure you, that this is not pie in the sky. Yes you've seen it all before, but the technology wasn't there, But now its here. Soon and very soon you guys will be privy to some of the cool things that is on the horizon. I don't expect nothing less from a XBOX dominated site, your skeptisism(sp?) is warranted and you have every right to doubt sony.

If you think I'm naive and haven't seen this story told before, then you would be wrong.

Oh and the Next Gen buzz word that internet guys float around as a trial ballon and it picks up steam over and over again. Here they are
