Re: Killzone 2.....(Real in Game Footage)

Very impressive animations. The low-res textures really stood out, but overall, the game looks great. By the time it's realeased, people will be comparing it to a 1.5 year old game from Epic, and there are other soon-to-be-released games (like COD4) that might actually look better graphically.

I'm more interested in how it will play, seeing as the KZ1 was average at best. I wasted a rental fee on that title.

It's mind-boggling at the amount of time, $$$$, and # of devs that are working on this title.

I'm actually considering getting a ps3 for this game and The Show if reviews for Killzone 2 are positive.
I was just throwing out a few of the stuff that people were saying they didn't like about the first KillZone.

I can't wait for this game. If you have the money, the PS3 with The Show, Motorstorm, and Resistance for right now would be a good purchase. But if you wait till Killzone 2...........might not be a bad idea when more 1st party games release.

What I don't get is all the people on forums that slam all these games for how they look... that they don't look "next gen" enough. What is "Next Gen?"

NOTHING we've seen at E3 could have been done on the PS2 or the XBox 1 to the level that the games are now. To say that Halo looks like crap or All Pro looks like crap... eeeeh... WHAT?!@#

Nearly everything that was noteworthy out of E3 that was on the PS3 and the 360 had me going, "Damn! look how far gaming has come." I think a lot of people need to look to the past so they can fully appreciate the soon to be present and future when it hits.

            Killzone 2 looks mighty good.

It looks nice, (not better than COD 4, but nice) but I can just about guarantee that Halo 3 will kick it up one street and down the other when it comes to actual gameplay.

I will say it looks good, but not mind-blowlingly good. It looks about as good as Half-Life 2, graphically, so I don't see the big deal.

                  25 Minute Developer Walkthrough

                  1UP Interviews Guerilla Games

1UP: What's the biggest flaw in the first Killzone that you're fixing?

Heide: I think the most eye catching thing was performance. We had very high ambitions for the game and I think a lot of people commented on performance drops and that's something we have to address when building a new engine from scratch. Obviously the PS3 allows us to do a lot more and fully realize that ambition, but gameplay-wise we needed to show there's a lot more variety and a lot more possible within the scope of the game. With things like alternative routes, different kinds of weapons that are suited to different kinds of gameplay, we're pushing the life of this game.

1UP: Can we expect any sort of drastic gameplay change from Killzone 2?

Mathijs De Jonge: Well, the weather effects are going to play a role in that, but we can't say much about that, unfortunately. I think that and the first person [cover system], I think we're the first to do it in that way, so I think it's a quite innovative feature.

Heide: We're really trying to make a mix of features that compliment each other, so that's really where the game's going to shine. We want you to say "this is something you could never do in any other game" -- finding the right mix and doing those things right.

Visually this game looks so **** good. I love the sense of weight the Helghast have when getting shot and the blood splatter looks amazing. Also, I can definitely see that lean and peak mechanic being ripped-off in future FPS games. Looking forward to seeing more, especially the mutiplayer component and how the weather effects will play a big role in the game.

How was the first Killzone? Now that I have a PS3, I'm trying to go back and play some of the old PS2 games. I've bought Kingdom Hearts, both God of Wars, the first Devil May Cry, and Metal Gear Solid 2 in the last couple of weeks. Is it worth a purchase or a rental or neither.

Its a decent game, worth a rental. The hype(Halo Killer) and subsequent expectations caused a lot of people to pile on when it turned out not to be the greatest FPS of all time.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Rent Devil May Cry 3: SE (skip DMC 2), Silent Hill 2-4 (4: The Room is highly underrated), Fatal Frame 2, Onimusha 3, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Bully, Gran Turismo 4, Beyond Good and Evil, and Primal. The PS2 is loaded with top-shelf stuff, both well-known and overlooked.

Make sure you play Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence instead of the Snake Eater version. It contains extra features over SE and also a 3D camera which greatly enhances the gameplay. I'm playing through it right now, the game is awesome and looks great on my PS3 .
