Preordered mine last week in Knoxville w/ $50 down. Said I was 31st on the list and the guy said they were getting 31. He said they should be getting more than that but wasn't sure. He didnt say anything about a second shipment either.

I'm waiting till Amazon/EBGames online start taking preorders. Those are major sites that will have systems available on launch day.

Who remembers the prices of all those consoles when they first came out? I'm curious. Maybe a trend could be seen. Also, if you have time, the average games for that system when they first came out. I would try but I have no clue where to look.

Not sure if this is what you're asking but the XBOX was $300-$350 when it first came out. Games have stayed the same at around $50.

Xbox was $299 at release. PS2 was $299 and Gamecube was $199. Now the PSX (PS1) was also $299 at release. The Dreamcast was $199, and the N64 was also $199. Those were the last major home console release price points.

Prices will probably stay the same IMO.

I don't ever remember the original PSX being $299 at release. If it came out back in '96 or so I don't see how it could've been that much. I only remember dropping about $150-$175 on it.

I pre-ordered my XBox 360 on the 21st. They told me that if I decided I didn't want it that the $50 would be fully refunded. Add to it that standard XBox Live will be at no charge and I think Microsoft will be well on their way to having the controlling majority of the console gaming world.

Squint I just don't think that's possible with the built in Sony fanbase I just don't see Microsoft gaining majority of the console market until at least the next next gen systems.

The PSX was indeed $299.99. I remember getting it and Battle Arena Toshindin on launch day, Sept 9th, 1995.
