A little disappointed the 360 won't be backwards compatible...
This kind of makes me not want to buy any more games for my XBOX, since I'm pretty sure I'll be trading it in for a 360. This bother anyone else??Tags: None -

It more than likely will be backwards compatible. -
Re: A little disappointed the 360 won't be backwards compatible...
it kinda bothers me from a standpoint that I think all things that are upgrades should support previous versions if the media stays the same (I wouldn't expect Gamecube to support a cartridge system like N64).
But really, in my case, I have never played one of my old Playstation games on my PS2. I can see how I might want to play both XBox and XBox 360 games for the first 3-6 months after the 360 is released, but after that I would think my XBox will be useless. But I don't really play old games that much because I mainly play sports games which have new releases each year. If I was in love with games like Halo 2, I could see where this could be a problem.
I think it is a mistake by XBox 360 not to support the XBox games, but I personally won't be hindered by this because I only play sports games on the XBox. The other type games I play on the Gamecube in which I hope the Revolution will support the Gamecube games, otherwise I will understand how you feel.

Backwards compatibility: Nope. The Xbox 360 won't be playing Xbox 1 games. And that includes the rumored 360-optimized version of Halo 2 that people are speculating with come preinstalled on the new console.Comment

Re: A little disappointed the 360 won't be backwards compatible...
I've gone back and forth on this BC issue. A part of me wants my Xbox games to play on the 360, but another part of me does not. I kinda hope that it will be very difficult to emulate Xbox games on the new machine. That way, all of the games designed for the 360 would hopefully be genuine nextgen titles. I'm no expert on this, but if an emulation is made easy, would that allow for older games to be ported over to the 360? The last thing I'd want to see is a flood of Xbox games being updated a bit and brought over to the 360, masquerading as a nextgen title. Having no BC(or just partial BC) could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Maybe then when devolopers say that their games were "built from the ground up", we could take them seriously.

And anyway, I don't see why everyone wants backwards compatability that bad. It's not like you'll get that much money by trading your xbox in so you might as well keep it and play those games if you really want to.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Personally, I don't see the point of playing old games when new games will be coming out. Yeah, they won't be as abundant as we see right now, only cause the system is just starting to come out. But, you can believe that the system will have a deep list in the longrun. It's inevitable. Backwards Compatibility is overrated. Like putting a 91 Honda engine in a 2006 Ferrari car. You can do it but why not just keep both and be happy like that??Comment

Re: A little disappointed the 360 won't be backwards compatible...
I'm not too concerned with backwards compatibility, but would like to see it. If not, I could either hold off on buying the Xbox360 until a game I liked came out or just not game for a few weeks. No big deal.
IMO it's pointless to keep both systems and I always trade in an older system the day I pick up a new one. I think it's better to trade in the Xbox1 when the value is still decent (not great, but decent), than to keep it for 3-6 more months and watch the value drop exponentially because every other person traded theirs in and stores have an overabundance of them. The longer ya hold it, the cheaper the return.
Then again, that's just me...Comment

Re: A little disappointed the 360 won't be backwards compatible...
B/C isn't that big of a deal to me, and when Microsoft said it would be B/C with the top selling Xbox games, that's enough for me.
Microsoft's long term goal is to have every Xbox game work on the Xbox 360, but that's just impossible. They could release patches over Xbox Live. I bet alot of people didn't know that every PS1 game doesn't work on the PS2.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

As far as wanting backwards compatibility, the real reason I wanted it was because I want to get NCAA '06 for Xbox. so that when I get the Xbox 360, I'll still have a college football game to play on the system. Plus, it's sometimes fun to go back and play some of the classics. It's not a dire need, but I still think it would be nice...Comment
