Old PS2 had an off switch. All you do is hold down the reset button for about 5 seconds buddy.....or maybe I read the post wrong. Doesn't the slim have a reset button? Might work the same....

            I've got a question too:
Is it true there is no fan inside? So, is over heating a problem?

Something I heard, but it wasn't from a reliable source though.

...I always unplug the AC adapter from the rear of the console. I believe that the manual advises that. And yes, there are some overheating problems so DON'T put the console in a bookshelf or any enclosed area or else...

The manual tells you to unplug it if you aren't playing the PS2 for any long amount of time.

if i am gone for 3 months, then yeah, i turn off everything. if i am gone for a week, the ps2 stays on standby(maybe even 2 weeks, just got back from la and thing is sitting there on standby). if the ps2 gets used at least once a week, its on standby.

had an old ps2 for 3 years and it was always on standby. only reason i got rid of it was to trade it in for an xbox. never gave me any issue.

I put mine on standby all time when I'm not playing it and I've never had a problem.
