Although I haven't played it, you can usually be sure it is a stinker if several websites are panning it. It is supposedly going to be a trilogy, but I wouldn't count on any of the remaining 2 chapters ever seeing the light of day. Seems another example of an ambitious design being overwhelmed by lacking time/resources/skills to implement.

Just another sci-fi shooter with a derivative storyline and uninspiring gameplay

I love picking on games that I've never played!

Its actually pretty good. A lot of people aren't buying/renting it and playing it because they see all the people complaining about horrible framerate issues and so-so graphics. I'll admit, there are framerate issues that you'll notice as soon as you start the game but it seems to smooth out as you get further and further into the game. Only once did it slow down so much that it felt really bogged down and that only lasted about 2 seconds. I'm about 6 hours in and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Non-stop action and a very quick pace make this game a fun abeit short play (around 8-10 hours on average). The graphics are actually pretty good as well. Definitely not as polished as they could be but if you take the time to look at your surroundings there is a lot going on at almost all times. Honestly, I read all the negative things for it and picked it up anyways. So at least rent it and give it a shot, you might actually like it. I can't wait for the sequels.

I'm really enjoying it. Controls are differnt so they'll take more getting used to,still a bit confused. The sound is top of the line that's the one thing everyone is agreeing on. Most people seem to like the story too.

Maxim gave it 4/5 and Gamepro (mag) gave 4.5/5 with editors choice award so it's not all bad review wise.

I'm not quite sure what the tie-in is but there's a cupon for a free Sobe in the instruction book so you can steal that if you rent it and it's not already stolen.

I haven't played it yet but I think that the next game in the series should be amazing since they know what they have to fix and they can see what the main complaints were in the reviews and address them.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I'm afraid Maxim and Gamepro are the two most unreliable sources out there for reviews. I would rather go by the good things you guys are saying about the game. I saw a commercial for it, and it does look pretty cool.

Of course you should check it out if you've been waiting for it. Reviews might've lowerd your expectations but that's not a reason to not at least rent it. Maybe if it was getting all 0's.
