Gamespot: PS3 specs vs X360 specs

Gamespot has a good piece on this. I like their pieces better because they are devoid of the lame attempts of humor that frequent IGN. GS just gives the facts.

If you're too lazy to click the link, they basically say that the Cell seems more impressive than the X360 processor and that while Blu-ray is capable of 51Gb the DVDs X360 is using is will be more than enough for next-gen. They also pointed out that alot of mostly meaningless #s were put out by Sony because they saw the X360's spec sheet first and that Sony withheld some numbers because the X360 had them beat..

IMO you can't go wrong, but I'm a Xbox guy. Only problem I have is that PS3 comes with wireless ethernet and wireless for X360 cost extra....

But the wireless isn't the key thing. What we get when we get online is the key thing and XBOX has them beat by a system clearly. Sony still hasn't put out any type of info on what online will be like. I mean, we know they'll be weak like before, but dang, why hold out? Maybe I'm pushing too hard for what I "think" they should have already done. I'll start reading the article.....now......

Okay, you guys know that there are questions out there so let me start with a few.

1. Is the graphics core clock speed in any way related to the cell processor on the PS3? What does that 550 MHz mean or tell us compared to the 500 MHz from the 360's standpoint?

2. What does the embedded video memory do exactly? Will the absense of the EVM in the PS3 (for now since they're holding a few numbers/spec?) do something to hurt their performance compared to the 360?

3. Integrated communications for the PS3 only has the B/G while the one for XBOX has A/B/G (ready). That doesn't really matter too much does it?

4. What is the significance of the Cache? Will the MB of the 360 be a significant factor over the PS3's 512 KB

5. Can one of you break down the Memory Bandwidth? I see the different numbers and it looks like Sony has the upperhand there except that there's a number in the XBOX 360 joint that really doesn't click in my common sense on this stuff: 256 GB/s to eDRAM.

Second why must everything XBOX has a disadvantage in be something you see as not important, first its compatability with last gen systems because XBOX has limited use its not important to you, now its wireless internet not built in... now that's not important also... what's next?

I guess I found a new friend. Nice to meet you. Well, as a friend, I'll let you know that my first post was in regards to what the first poster dropped. Second, if I know about something, then why am I going to ask about it? Makes a lot of sense. Kind of like asking you what my name is. I already know the flow of the Blu Ray. They stated it clearly for me. They didn't clarify those other numbers and specs enough for me to quite understand.

I am curious to know what their online looks like. They haven't said anything while MS has been talking it for a hot minute. What's up with that? That was my first post. Relax that joint homey. Why am I going to debate on wireless when I barely get this freaking DSL working properly? Makes no sense. I personally know that the wireless thing isn't something that is on my level right now cause I'm staying with my parents right now. Not trying to trip out their house just to go off to college again and not be able to use any of that precious wireless. Clearly, I'm in the gaming for the easy accessibility. Wireless is everything but that wouldn't you say?

I see MS being dumb butts for not trying to get a piece of that Blu Ray, but they haven't been sold on what they are going to use. I respect Sony for going out on a limb and using that Blu Ray even though that's almost too much stuff to use. In being realistic, I see the graphics improving but whatelse can they use those Blu Ray for? It's good to have an over abundance though. Not hating. I'm sold more on XBOX but I still plan on getting that PS3.....if it's not all fluff and it's worth it. We'll see. Have any answers for the questions that I put off of which I have no clue of?? Read them and then respond on the real instead of attacking a non-spec "geek" next time please. You cool with me defending your system though. Put in a lot of time and work to get that cell processor working.....jk

No one said wireless was the key thing.

It's just many people have past the time where wires were all tangled up behind the desk.

And umm... What makes you think Sony was "weak" with their online play? There are a lot of people not willing to pay for online play and PS's free online was great.

Also, Playstation3 comes out a YEAR while X360 has a few more months. Keep that in mind.

Backwards capability really isn't that important and for all the extra things that sony is prone to making people pay for(like a hard drive), it pretty much ends up being a wash.

Well, seeing that I don't really trip over those wires BEHIND my television which never get tangled if I PROPERLY set it up, I really don't care. Plus, it's ONE FREAKING INTERNET WIRE!! Who the heck tangles one small ethernet wire?? Whoever does needs to get shot because the internet connection cords never should mingle with the power and television cords for the simple fact that the internet is in a totally different part of the room or something of that nature. If it's not, too bad.

Second, that online play that Sony had was good at times but the lagging killed it as well as the lack of honest players. Those players usually being little kids or other kats that manipulate the hell out of one thing of the game and kill the whole mood. There are some of those on XBOX Live too, but why are we worried about other things.

How about this. Stop reading the first post. Read the question post. Why are ya'll worried about the little **** I ain't caring about? Doesn't make sense. Forget my bashing at those little things I DON'T CARE ABOUT. Someone with common sense and who isn't attracted to the dumb crap that is irrelevant to answering the simple questions I have. No offense to the ones that will repeatedly repeat exactly what each other says to prove the point that PS3 will be the beginning of creating life as we know it, but I'm not interested in wondering what the best buy is. I want to find out the answers to those questions. Dang.... Please send someone who is mature enough to listen and answer....
