I'm with deejay on this one. I play my sports games as well as SOCOM and Battlefront online and it does what I want....for free.

Yes, with XBL you have one username overall instead of one for each game (like Sony Online), but I'm happy...and it's not confusing.

The ps3 can have the EXACT SAME online plan as the ps2, and I'll buy it. The big selling point for me for the ps3 is the HD.

Yes, you get what you pay for, but for some, that's a LOT more than they need. They're already paying $300 for the system. Do you need more $$$ Microsoft??

Yep, plus tax I get a credit card statement of about $90 a year/cnd. It's still worth every penny.

They lost money on XBL. The only reason Sony's was free is because they didn't host. I guarantee developers aren't going to want that cost on top of everything else next-gen, so that'll be different.

It will be intersting to see how many people pay for Live Gold. Online gaming is still a niche market.

I think the niche market will expand dramatically during the next gen.

I agree with this, Online gaming is very, very, very young. I think only 10% of Xbox owners have LIVE. LIVE is primarily for FPS and Sports games.
