huh? I stopped understanding your point after I read "perhaps not for gaming" Jobs shoud not be comenting on any gaming hardware.

Why does everyone think XBOX is going to blow the PS2 out of the waters. Come on man...Im not saying the PS3 will be better but IMO these 2 systems will be equal when it comes out. Jobs saying he's not impressed at the PS3...who cares, that's what he is SUPPOSED to say. Sony has been in business longer than Microsoft and they are not about to let XBOX leapfrog them. They will be both GREAT systems...quit comparing them and saying one is better then the other

Re: Steve Jobs Not Impressed with the Cell Processor

No details were made on why Jobs thought the Cell processor was bad for Apple computers. Disappointed there. Would have liked to know why. But then, what's bad for home computing doesn't mean it's bad for a gaming system.

Apple computers use IBM chips which is the maker of the new Cell. Since Apple is going the Intel route, it's not surprising he would say that.

The article goes on to predict that Apple may have leveraged themselves to out do companies like Dell, Gateway, etc... for the home computing market because implimenting an Intel processor may allow their users to run Windows along with Mac OS. Best of both worlds. That's all this is about. Not gaming systems.

Nintendo's been in this business way longer than Sony and they are not about to let the Playstation leapfrog them...oh wait, crap, it did...therefore anything's possible.

I agree with you though, both will be great systems and we have no real basis to compare them until they release...however I do think Sony's guy is sleazy with all the 360 bashing he's done, unprofessional IMO.

I feel you, bro. Why can't people simply accept that both systems will be great? Why does one system have to "Blow the other system out of the water?" Sheesh...

Because people feel the need to justify their purchase.

                Old news.

The XBOX 360 PowerPC processor has to be closer to the Cell than the Intel prosessor Jobs chose to go with instead of the Cell. So if Jobs opinion matters then Microsoft probably should have gone with an Intel processor just like in the first XBOX.

He did say that the current PowerPC is more reliable than the Cell chip that he had a look at.

Because it's their opinion on what facts they know so far. It's just a thing of reality. Just like with sport and things like that. It's competition honestly. Hey....
