BF2 is a great game, but it's definitely a resource hog. You really need a rig with decent specs to be able to enjoy this game. Sorry things didn't work out for you.

What kind of video card do you have, and what resolution were you trying to run it at?

Also, how much RAM do you have? You are going to want at least 1 GB. As Murph said, the game is definitely a resource hog.

I have an ati aiw 9800 on medium is pretty smooth but for some reason I want to upgrade my card and blow a whole crapload of cash. Is it really worth it to do this? I'm tempted to buy one of those new nvidia cards. Does anyone know much about those new geforce 7800's and are they that much of an upgrade?

I actually am running BF2 on the same exact card, and get no freezing. The framerate sometimes is a little shoddy when the map first loads, but other than that it is pretty smooth.

I have everything set to medium, and I would love to be able to jack it all up to high settings, but it isn't worth dropping money on a new card to me.

Yeah, I think your right man. I upped the resolution and increased a few settings and everything still runs pretty smooth except for the occasional lag on certain servers.
