I found Pirates for $20 Canadian but held back from buying it. I may have to go back because I'm starting to regret it.
Rise of Nations is amazing. It takes the basic RTS gameplay of C&C and others (resource gathering, groups of varied units, etc) and adds in some of the historical Civ gameplay (progress through different eras, add wonders, research technologies and religions). Plus it has a multitude of different nations to use...though if you want Native Americans and the U.S. you'll have to pick up the expansion.

There are some awesome campaign modes too! Definately pick it up!

Hey, if anyone wants to get online and try to play a little Rise of Nations, holler at your boy. Man, I haven't played in a while but I'm sure itching to get back into it.

Is Stronghold any good? I'm thinking about picking that one up. I might have to holler at CC to scoop up one of those Rollercoaster Tycoon games. They have some incredibly cheap deals over there.

Re: What games do you have installed on your PC?

I picked up both Stronghold & Tropico (maximum strategy pack) for $5 at Walmart. If you aren't hung up on cutting edge graphics there is quite a bit of fun to be had in both games.

Funny how older pc games get a lot more of my attention nowadays.

Wow.... didn`t know we had this many PC gamers here at OS.

But in regards to OAOW. Is it turn-based at the operational level or tactical level? I suppose it is operational since thats in the title. For turn-based I kind of prefer Operational/Strategic and for real-time, I prefer tactical.

And will it run on XP?

Lately i`ve been messing around with Strategic Command 2. Made by the same guys that brought us Combat Mission. Here`s a few screen shots... great game!

Actually both. You can get as deep as you want in this game and it does get deep. If you take it online there are some freakin great armchair generals out there.

OAOW will run in XP but you'll probably need to run it under Win95 compatability mode. Operational Art of War 3 is out so says Gamespot but I still can't find it anywhere. OAOW is the Falcon 4.0 of turn based War Strategy games.

In fact alot of people don't know this but Falcon 4.0 shares some things in common with OAOW as it uses the Talonsoft Tactical War engine from the series and runs a flight simulator on top of the war game.

Here's some info I googled on OAOW III
