Re: XBOX Live
You need either a 2 month trial card or a starter kit for Xbox Live. Once you have that, plug your internet cord into the Xbox back, then select Xbox Live from the dashboard, new account, and fill out the information that follows.
You'll need an active credit card ready, once you get through the info, select active my account, and you're good to go. They'll ask you in they can share your info with partners, just say no to both. Then just add people to your friends list, or start playing online.
If you use a 2 month trial be aware they will charge you for a years worth of Live at the end of the 2 months unless you call them before it expires and cancel. Same goes for a 12 month card, after it's up they'll charge your card unless you cancel before hand.
If you don't want to buy premium content on Live, an go into your account settings, and disable premium content. That's all I can think of right now, I just used a 2 month card the other day. If I wrote anything wrong, feel free to correct me anyone.Comment

Re: XBOX Live
As long as you have a long enough cord. My comp is on the other side of my room so I just wire it across. Wireless is cool though if your router is in the other room or downstairs or whatever. Its not too hard. Its pretty much plug and play.Comment

Re: XBOX Live
Originally posted by ExtremeGamerNo, you need a router though. You can have the Xbox wireless if you buy a wireless adapter for the Xbox. My computer is in a room on the other side of my house from my Xbox, and my Router is in the middle of the house next to my cable modem.
But there are negatives to that setup. One, no one else can use the computer while you're playing. That's not such a bad thing, though, if you lack a really strong connection. Two, you have restart your modem each time you play Xbox Live.
A router definitely is worth it if you don't have one. But it's not essential.
Take care,
