Re: Interesting; Concerning the Next Gen Consoles.

I think that the next gen consoles' lives are suppose to be 10 years or so I hear. Maybe even more cause those little articles on assumptions can definitely be taken with a grain of salt. For some strange reason, the computer developers are the main ones complaining about the power of these next-gen consoles. Those who don't have major games on the systems for real. I mean, Half-life is a hot game or so I heard. What else did he take part in developing? My concept for these consoles is that if you practice on them a bit, then you'd get better. I thought that Half-life was delayed for some months or something? Not a good record when you're trying to talk about the gaming of the next-gen. How good was Half-life & Half-life 2? I might have to pick them up to make an assumption for myself. It's mad ironic that the console developers aren't complaining about things like EA and VC or Konami or Activision. Anyone find that weird? It's all developers who are more attracted to computers I'm guessing. Please help me thing on this....

I don't think they were fully tapped. As far as the Xbox goes, Half-life 2 and Far Cry: Instincts will push the Xbox to the max, but these games are comming at the very end of the Xbox life cycle. The PS2 is honestly badly designed, and we will never see it's pontential. I think the next-gen consoles life cycles will be a little longer, but we won't see the true capabilities of these machines until 2007 or 2008.

Year after that, come out with another $50 game that has been 2 years in the making that plays much better, and has a lot more features than the first $50 game.

        Rinse, and repeat...
That concept is SO 1980's. And it sucked(Sarcasm). I remember having having Superbowl Sunday, Microleague baseball, and other games for the commodore 64. You bought the game for $30 back then and then each year, you bought a season roster disk for $15 until 3 years later, a new version of the game came out. I was perfectly happy.

I guess us gamers can blame ourselves. How many people are willing to work on a roster set for NCAA 2005 and not buy NCAA 2006?

The public demands a new game each year, and EA and others accomodate you.

To be honest, I could live with a sports game every other year, easy. The only problem is, it seems these game makers intentionally make 1 glaring flaw in each game and we'd be ripping our hair out waiting 2 years for it to be fixed.

Anything to bring back the 80's is fine in my old school book. lol.

I was figuring you wouldn't have to do anything with the rosters. As soon as you load the disk, it would look for the previous year's files and update it for you. But I don't know if that's how it works...

You said a mouthful when you said that game developers INTENTIONALLY make a glaring flaw so that we can hope they fix it. If they're not doing this, then the definitely convieniently leave stuff out, or take stuff out only to have it pop up again in a few years as a "NEW FEATURE".
          I'm back... for now

One problem with this is for those who have the PS3, how will the files update? No hard drive will give the developers a new problem to work with. Honestly, they could use teh flash drives but that might be a problem. Only those with the 360 would seem to benefit I assume. Plus, a lot of the 360 owners could get the updates over the net which would definitely do us some good monetary wise. Still, the developers could find a way. Plus, I do hear you on that glaring problem joint. It becomes so much more common whether it is intentional or not. Only hope that it is reduced starting soon....

Another in the long line of PC developers that are whining about coding for dual-cores.

For the 1st time, their software is now behind next-gen hardware. It's time to quit the crying and forget about the days of the past. Getting tired of listening to them all.
