Any more news on XBOX 360 Backwards Capability?

Anyone hear anything definite on the backwards compatibility of the 360? Last I heard was microsoft was wavering from 100% backwards compatible or the 360 having the ability to play most of the "popular titles" (through some sort of emulation of whatever). Not a deal breaker, but I would like to unload my xbox for the highest value possible. Thanks!

I want it to be able to play the new titles that come out for xbox such as Battlefront2 Star Wars... Too little information being given out for this feature

I think it's still the same.

The Xbox 360 will be backwards compatible with the top selling Xbox games, but the goal is to get most Xbox games to work. Microsoft said they could update with dowloadable patches through XBL after the Xbox 360 has launched to be able to play more games.

I thought they came to an agreement with NVidia about this? And all games would be backwards compatible. Or at least most.

i don't have a link but that's what i heard too...and i think BlitzKraig (the Blitz dev) mentioned this to some extent...not totally confirming anything, but just that it'd make sense

They signed an agreement to emulate the hardware nVidia built for the original Xbox. Microsoft still has to make these games run properly on the Xbox 360 through software. I do expect most Xbox games to run on the Xbox 360 out of the box, but there may be some patches for games that use both layers on the DVD (except Halo 2), as Microsoft said those will require the most work to make backwards compatible.

I REALLY hope this includes NCAA 2006 and MVP 2005....but somehow I doubt it.

Sure seems pretty indefinite for something that is being released pretty soon. Not a deal breaker, but I sure would love to free up some space on my storage shelf by getting rid of the xbox.

select games probably means halo 2 and maybe some other titles. i hope they include every game.

This is the one thing that's driving me crazy about the 360. I'd love to be able to play MVP on the new system, but Microsoft has been too mysterious about BC.

I have a couple collection games that I do not think qualify as "cool" or "popular" games and I really do not want to keep my xbox just for those (Chessmaster, Sonic Mega, etc.).

True Jistic. I guess I'm gonna keep my XBOX to play MVP if it's not on the list of BC titles, but I'm guessing since Microsoft is trying to buddy up even more with EA, it probably will be.

One more I'd like to add is ESPN 2K5. You know that won't be compatible.
