This might kind of kill MS's sales though if ya'll think about it. If XBOX 360 is competing with PS2 and PS2 is still coming out with great games that aren't making it on the 360 and they are cheaper, then what will the consumers get? There are so many ways to look at this joint. Sony can still make a good killing on PS2 while 360 makes a killing. Would ya'll wait for MS to put in high definition drive into the system compliments of Toshiba??

yeah, but then Sony would be in the situation MS is in now, with 360 having a massive lead on systems sold (When Xbox came out PS2 was all ready the entrenched market leader). I'm just not sure Sony would give MS that much of a head start. Also, looking at a game on the 360 vs PS2 will be a pretty drastic difference i think. With 2 holiday seasons a lot of people will move on, that's a lot of time for parents to get the things their kids want.

I'm getting both the day of launch so doesnt matter when the PS3 comes out.

But remember that people are so into the Sony name on the real. Horrible that it's name. Sony isn't going to be that dumb. I think it's enough time to drop the price a few times shoot. Almost be time for MS to come out with another system for crying out loud. The gaming with 360 vs. PS2 will be different, but PS2 sales might still be high due to their exclusive deals they have already. It's probably a chance that games like Metal Gear Solid 4 might come out on the current gen also. Especially if they're waiting all that time. Stuff like that might draw a little hype from 360. Still, it should be interesting. Two holiday seasons is long to wait for one system. Especially when it wasn't even as good as it's competition. I'm sure kids will convince other kids to make those choices. Online is going to be so hot too. Oh, I can't wait....

yeah, Sony does have name recognition, but now MS has quite a bit more, they're not a new system...Just remember, Sega and Nintendo both had name recognition, big time, and Sony took them out pretty well. Sony's gotta be careful with this or else they could end up in a pretty bad situation, I think MS has a lot more money backing them, with a lot less to lose (if Sony's gaming goes under, that's a massive hit to the company, whereas if the xbox goes under, it's more just a ripple, because MS really centers on Windows)

If the PS3 does come out that much later. It would be easier to buy both. I wasn't planning on getting a next-gen system until mid-next year and that would have been a tough decision of which to get. If PS3 is delayed that much, it wouldn't be so bad to buy the XBox 360 next year and then wait a year to get the PS3 if I still want it.

Good point. Although, since I'm not buying 360 at launch, I wouldn't mind them coming out closer so I can make an educated decision. Then again, 2007 gives me an excuse to splurge now.

I probably wont be looking to get a new system til around then anyway (i want to get settled in my job and pay off a new car and get into a house before i buy a new system) so it doesnt affect me right now...but even though im happy with my PS2 and was originally thinking PS3 I am looking more and more into an XBox 360....so hopefully by the time I am looing to purchase a new system I will be able to ask around and some of you guys will tell me which one is the better choice.

Im getting 360 sometime around launch. XBOX live is gonna be sweet and ps3 cant compete.
