I admit anyone would be tempted to get 360 because it will be so long before PS3 comes out. But everything I read seems to indicate PS3 will be more equipped to advance in the next several years. The timing makes it a tough choice.

Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
A lot of people are getting both 360 and PS3. Thats about $800 plus tax (assuming PS3 will cost at least as much as 360. Games are $60 or more a pop. Extras and all could make it $1000 purchase. After that, how can you justify buying games at $60 for both systems? Can you actually afford to play both over the lang haul?

Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
I'm wondering the same thing. You can get a computer for that price that can match the game quality of both systems combined. Just like I did recently.
I guess there's just some console exclusive games that people like so much, that they don't care too much about PC. -
Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
For me atleast, it comes down to the fact that the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are spaced out so much that I can afford getting both that way. I also already have a good enough computer that fits my computer gaming needs, and as far as the games being 60.00, thats the least of my concerns, thats only 10.00 more then they are now. Im more concerned with the prices of accessories and whatnot.Originally posted by bball_1523I'm wondering the same thing. Because people love gaming. And putting money aside for a hobby isn't a big deal...Originally posted by jjoeA lot of people are getting both 360 and PS3. Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
you're right. I guess there's a little bit of jealousy too because some of us just can't afford to dish out valuable money for games priced that high because we have other things we need to pay for. While there are those that dish out whatever to get whatever gaming thing they want, because somehow they get the money.Originally posted by MVPlayaBecause people love gaming. A PC the quality of the PS3 and 360 combined? In your dreams mate.
The good thing about a quality console is that it will be around for a while.
Buy a graphics card for PC and it lasts 6 months to a year.
The cards everyone bought for Doom 3 can't run Battlefield 2 or F.E.A.R. smoothly and the cards people buy for these game won't come close to handling Unreal Tournament 2007. Get the drift?Comment

Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
The typical misconception that you need to buy a new graphics card every 6 months. I bought my graphics card before Doom 3 came out and it runs all those games fine. Sure if you want to play the game at 1600x1200 with 6xAA and 8xAF you're going to need to upgrade your card, but most people don't need to play the game at those kind of settings.Originally posted by Admiral50A PC the quality of the PS3 and 360 combined? Agreed. I was still using a GeForce 2 up until a year or so ago and it ran every game fine.Originally posted by Patriotsv10The typical misconception that you need to buy a new graphics card every 6 months. Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
There's no way I'd get both, at least not at those prices. I usually pick one for a little while, and then when the price wars start to heat up I'll look into getting a second console. Unless you're pretty well off, I don't think its responsible to drop close to a grand on a new console this year and then do the same thing next year, but to each his own.Comment

Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
Well with 360 hitting this fall, and PS3 probally not until next fall or late summer in North America, I have more than enough time to save money and get both. Why would I get both? Because each will have lots of great exclusive titles.Comment

true, but with a console you don't have to worry if your hardware is good enough, you know you'll get what the devs intended.Originally posted by Patriotsv10The typical misconception that you need to buy a new graphics card every 6 months. I game on both PC and console, for some reason sports games don't feel right on the PC to me, the controllers don't seem as good (and i've tried ones that let you plug in the PS2 one, it's ok overall). Also the type of games that will release on a PC is usually different than console. You don't really see many games like Mario, Crash, with that running and doing stuff gameplay. PC's are really RTS, FPS, MMORPG, and adventure clicking game heavy.
Also, 99% of PC games don't support voice right out of the box. I know BF2 does, but most other games require you to set up a teamspeak or ventrilo server, etc. After playing a shooter of any sort (Halo 2, RB6, Ghost recon, Splinter Cell) on Live where you can easily talk to your teammates, it always sucks going back to typing to chat on a PC.
Don't get me wrong, i love gaming on my PC too, but IMO it's not the perfect solution people mention.Last edited by mgoblue; 08-18-2005, 09:36 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Why Woud You Get 360 and PS3?
My dreams are true, but notice I didn't say 'graphics' rather I said quality, that means gameplay too, lol.Originally posted by Admiral50A PC the quality of the PS3 and 360 combined? In your dreams mate.

I prefer PC because there many games I like to play more than any of the consoles combined (the sims, rts games, etc).
Plus like others have said, a modern graphics card can nearly handle any game that's come out. Not everyone is after graphics. And PC's will eventually have cards that will make 360/ps3 look like a n64.
I agree with mgoblue, pc isn't the perfect solution, but neither are consoles. I think consoles gear more towards people who can't afford pc's, don't know how to use them properly, or just have a feeling or liking for games on consoles only. To some consoles just feel better, the controller works out well for them. I wonder how you guys even bother to play FPS games with a controller, because a mouse and keyboard is more realistic if you're aiming for that.Comment
