I don't understand why they are $60. PC games that are and will be 123094892 times better than next-gen games combined, aren't $60.Comment

While I dont like the idea of games going up, for the first year or so, the pc games will not be better due to it taking a year or so for the pc technology to catch up to the 360 and PS3 counterpartsOriginally posted by bball_1523I don't understand why they are $60. Re: Have a Problem With the 60 Dollar Game Price Tag?

CDs or DVDs are dirt cheap for game publishers. The reason the prices of games are going up is because it costs so much more to make them. It costed Valve over 30 million to develop the Source Game Engine and Half Life 2.Originally posted by MVPlayaBecause PC games, you install on your cpu, keeping all the main files on your computer. Meaning you can just keep everything compressed on the cd...meaning you don't need a huge cd.

Prices on console games are going up because the console makers (Sony, MS and Nintendo) all get a cut from the games sold. So since production costs are up the game publisher wants to make some money.Comment

Re: Have a Problem With the 60 Dollar Game Price Tag?

New games for new consoles have been 50 dollars for a long time (N64 being the exception). And there hasn't been any inflation over the last decade and a half to make 50 dollars today's 60, so its natural for the consumer to react in a negative way. If you went to the store with 50 dollars, you got a game. If you went with 100, you could get 2, 150 got you three. Now its 60, 120, and 180. That extra ten bucks adds up over a year. While it is perfectly understandable that development costs have increased, it doesn't mean the consumer has to like it.Comment
