    XBOX Price Drop ???

With the 360 on the way, is the current Xbox console expected to drop to $100 any time soon?

What was the point of that?

To the original post, I would bet around October it drops to around $100, but nothing is confirmed.

        I said I guess so.

BTW, M$ were losing money with the Xbox, selling it cheaper than what it would acutally cost.

Umm...yeah, that hasn't been a secret. Sony and Nintendo are also losing money on their consoles.

Money is made through the games, not the consoles
When Xbox 360 comes out PS2 will likely drop in price. Xbox will drop in price to compete with the PS2.

Like ExtremeGamer, I don't know what you're trying to get at.

The PS2 slim isn't costing Sony a thing.

Well, the loss that MS was taking on each XBox is probably a thing of the past. By now, the components are much cheaper and the manufacturing process has been streamlined, just like with any product late in its life cycle. In 2001, 733 Mhz Pentium 3 chips and 8GB harddrives were relatively expensive, but now I'm sure they can be had for peanuts, especially in the volume MS orders.

A friend of mine told me yesterday he heard 360 would be $360...I don't know if he's correct though. He claims to have read an ad.

Price was already announced. 300 for the core system and 400 for premium bundle.
