For Those Of You Not Getting a Launch XBOX360

What is your reason for not getting one?

Please do not flame. This is not the reason for the thread. And I only specified XBOX 360 because it's the first console out. If PS3 was out first, I'd ask the same question.

I more than likely won't be getting the XBOX 360 at launch mainly because of the price tag. I'm obviously curious about it but at such a price, it's not one of my high priority purchases if that makes any sense.

I love videogames as much as the most hardcore gamer, but something is just keeping me from going out and preordering it. I really haven't seen much footage from the 360 launch titles and that may be a part of it.

Let's hear your opinion on the matter.

    1. As of right now I haven't heard anything that has gotten me really excited about it. Maybe that will change once they start showing off games, but right now, I don't feel I have to have it now.

    2. There always seem to be problems with launch consoles, so I'd rather wait it out.

    3. $400 is a pretty high price tag. I'm not definetly waiting for a price drop, but hopefully by the time I want to buy it, the price will have gone down a little.

Thanks Jets. That's the kind of response that I was looking for.

I really thought I was alone on the "not too excited" about it right now thing. For some reason, I'm not geeked about it. Don't know why (probably the lack of footage), but I'm just in an indifferent kinda mode right now.

Re: For Those Of You Not Getting a Launch XBOX360

        I picked a few...

Too Expensive: Not really big on paying $400 to get the true system

Enjoying Current Systems: Still having a blast with xbox's sports games and I will be able to play NCAA 06 and CH2K6 for a long while

Waiting for price drop: goes along with the too expensive. I could probably swing the money to get one, but just not a priority to me at that price...

Not a priority right now: see above. Many better uses for $300-$400 IMO

I will end up with one of the systems, but I've never gotten a system within a few months of it's launch, don't see the need to start now

Edit: The specs do have me excited, but it will be a while before anybody starts putting out something that even comes close to utilizing the full potential of the system. So I'm excited about the possibilities, but not really excited about the first wave of games.

Uh because the PS3 is going to OWN the Xbox 360 like the PS2 owned the Xbox.

lol naw, I plan on getting a 360 this year or next year. That's if the PS3 is really incredible.

I voted for "Waiting to see reaction to XBOX 360". I still have only heard about the specs and all that crap that doesnt make any sense to me. I'll wait to have an actual average person tell me what they think the system is like instead of some nerd throwing out random numbers.

I will probably wait 3-4 months, maybe even longer. With NBA 2k6 coming out, as well as Live, I feel I will have plenty of time to enjoy those games, and then later on, maybe next summer when the price drops I will pick one up. I don't necessarily have to have it just yet. I'm getting married and saving for a house, so $400+ games, etc. is a whole lot of money to just drop at once.

I will eventually own one, just not a launch console.

I'm probally going to wait until I atleast see what the PS3 offers. So far aside from PGR3 & GoW, the 360 games aren't really impressing me. I'll still probally get a 360, but I want to wait until I see some games on both PS3 and 360 being played.

No rush, I'm still enjoying a lot of current gen stuff anyways.

Its not my top priority right now. I know I'd have enough money to pick one up even when I have to pay for books in January and insurance in February, but money's not a problem. I'm just not filling the "need" or "want" to pick one up at launch. There are other things I want in the meantime, like a car system, or HDTV. Sure I may want one when everybody is talking about it, but I can wait 6 months when the system will be out for 4-6 years.

I probably would have gotten it, but I waited to long to pre order. My Eb said that I wouldn't beable to get it at launch, because there pre orders are full for the first shipment. Otherwise I would probably get it.

                      No rush for me...

I'm travelling for a few months (get back in January) and even then I'm sure I'll be fine playing current gen stuff- toca, we8/9, etc...

Wouldn't mind waiting to compare the ps2 and 360, but we'll see how long my will-power lasts.

To me it just doesn't seem worth it. I could take the $400 hit, but there's no games that really catch my attention other than Full Auto and it just doesn't seem worth it to pay $460 just to play that game. I also want to see what the reactions are to the console. If there are major hardware defects, then I'll definitely wait. I also haven't seen what the details are on the PS3 yet and there will likely be a Xbox360 price drop around the PS3 launch date anyway.

Besides, I still have a ton of games that I enjoy playing right now. There are games I haven't even touched yet because I'm having so much fun playing MVP 2005, NCAA 06, and Links.

None of the first-gen/launch lineup titles impress me enough to wrangle 600$ out of my pocket

Not a priority right now, other things on my mind

Still have a few Now gen games i want to play

Good poll with many valid reasons. As a relatively speaking old-timer (52) and ex-developer and current IT manager, my main reason for waiting is, that except for a few launch titles, it is going to take awhile for the developers to get experienced with the new hardware, and more importantly, the development tools. Of course, we will have acceptable migrated titles from other platforms, but consider how long it took with the last generation of games before game developers/publishers started to really take advantage of the systems. This is a simple fact that applies to almost all general purpose computer hardware advances and supporting operatons systems and applications. As I stated, there will be a few exceptions, but they tend to be developers/companies that were involved with the programming tools, hardware and libraries before the general developer community has access.

Sorry to ramble on. As a gamer, I consider myself fortunate to be alive during these times.
