I'm having a lot of fun with this game too. My buddy and I are chewing through it using Magneto (him), Rogue (me), Colossus, and Gambit. Most of our characters are right around level 20 by this point. The voicework and cutscenes are all very well done and the game does a really good job of making the enemies and environments varied enough so the dungeon crawl doesn't become repetitive. Very fun game.

Re: X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
I know this is an almost old thread but I've been playing this game for the last two weeks and I'd give it a 9.
I'm lovin the RPG element to the game and the story lines. I've gotten to the point where I just saved Beast from Apocolapse. Awesome so far. My favorite character is easily Cyclops. He's at level 22 now and I have the equipment that does radiation damage to oponents along with his optic blasts (almost -20hp per second for some foes). So funny after I hit someone with a blast how their life continually drains away and they go "oooh, ooh, ooh". LOL
I have been switching up my team members with Nightcrawler (fun, fun, fun), Colossus (a beast), Rogue (the deadly kisses), Storm (devistating once up there in levels).
I have to thank my two sons again for buying this game for me. They knew I wanted it.

Is the Phoenix not on the XBox version? I see equipment for her.
Edit: Oh, and this game has this silly requirement that all persons must have the same type of aspect ratio and video mode when playing on XBL. I play the game in 16:9 on my HDTV in 720p mode. This is probably why I see nobody on there. I refuse to squeeze the size of the picture down to 4:3 just so I can play somebody online.Last edited by burnwood; 10-19-2005, 03:19 PM.Comment

Any thoughts on the PSP version? Most importantly, how are the load times? It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.Comment

Re: X-Men Legends 2: Rise of Apocalypse
Alright guys - I picked up the game today and here are some initial impressions:
1. Load times: they're about 20 seconds long, which isn't great, but not horrid either. After playing MC3 Dub Edition, any load time under a minute is great for me. Like I said, they're not bad at all and I expect that GTA: Liberty City Stories will have similar load times to XML2
2. Graphics: graphics are actually very good IMHO. No, they're not as good as say, the X-Box version or PC Version, but they're very close to the PS2 graphics. People have complained about the graphics being blocky and jagged, but I've barely noticed it. I think Activision did a great job porting this game and graphically, this is one of the best PSP titles minus the bad load times like MC3.
3. Gameplay: if you've played the console version, you already know how this game plays - like a Gauntlet style dungeon crawler with X-Men. The control scheme on the PSP is very good and pretty spot on. I didn't have any issues getting used to the controls and you can also rotate the camera using the PSP controls. Everything in the console version is in the PSP version and then some. You get the four exclusive characters, but all four have to be unlocked. And you do this by completing flashback comic book missions a la X-Men Legends 1. In total, there are nine flashback missions and you should be able to unlock your exclusives afterIn total, there are 7 unlockable characters, more than any of the other versions although the PC Version had Sabretooth and Toad as unlockables.
4. Online: Haven't tried this out much, but there is ad-hoc and infrastructure and I will update once I spend more time on the mode...
5. Overall: I loved the game on X-Box and I also love it on PSP. One of the best games on the system by far. The developers did a great job with the game and I'm surprised they were able to fit the whole game plus additional levels. The game is as good as the consoles and it's portable X-Men Legends. Again, the load times could be better, the framerates stutter from time to time, and again, the graphics are better on the consoles. But if you own a PSP and were thinking about getting this game, it's worth the $50. It's a lot of fun and along with Hot Shots Golf and Virtua Tennis, another must have game for the PSPComment
