New Playstation 2 Virus via gamesave

Just watched this on breaking news on MSNBC and there is a new virus for the playstation 2 out there that hides in the form of a Gamesave for your favorite game. What the virus does is it curropts the Rom on the Playstation 2 rendering it useless, Permanently damaging the System so it doesnt Power On. or powers on to a black screen. Apparently several "VIRUS" gamesaves have been found on Codejunkies already.

I doubt it's the PS2. Maybe you got it mixed up with the PSP. The PS2 has ROM (read only memory). Which means it can only be read not modified. The PSP on the other hand has flashable firmware.

Looks like Symantec and others are creating another new virus industry.

I don't understand why someone would make a virus to permanently mess up people's PSPs. Do they not have a conscious? I hope the burn in hell for all eternity.

because they can...these are the same guys that hack corporate websites, or do DNS attacks, etc...

Interesting that it only really goes after the more techie user of a PSP though, you'd think they wouldn't want to attack people who are more likely to relate to them.

Anyway, all this **** people are making for PSP... Web browsers and s***. I'm not surprised people are able to make a virus. I mean damn, PSP is a freakin computer for cryin out loud.
