A reader in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin wrote to tell us that his local Wal-Mart has a playable Xbox 360 on display with demos of Call of Duty 2, Kameo, and King Kong. There are also looping videos of other games. We called that Wal-Mart to confirm and were told by the person working in electronics that this is in fact true. According to him, “Wal-Marts are going to be the first stores to have Xbox 360s.” He said that a Microsoft representative came by and just decided to set up an Xbox 360 in Sun Prairie. Go figger.
The Philadelphia, PA store does NOT have an Xbox 360 yet. Does your local Wal-Mart have playable Xbox 360s?

Well i went to the Auburn Wal Mart today to check it out. I walk to the electronics section, and I see no kiosk. So I go to ask an employee whats up. Here is how the conversation went.


Me: "Do ya'll know when you will be getting the Xbox 360 demo kit?"

Employee 1: "Demo Kit? I havent heard anything about that. I wouldnt guess til right before release."

Me: "Oh, well my friend in Huntsville said that his Wal-Mart set up a kiosk yesterday."

Employee 1: "Really, well let me ask Chuck [Employee 2]. Hey Chuck, you know anything about a Xbox360 demo kit?"

Employee 2: [Laughs out loud] "Hell yeah. Came in this monring. I played it for like an hour in the back."

Employee 1: "I have been here for 6 hours, and you are just now telling me about this?"

Employee 2: "Umm, I guess I slipped my mind."

[both laugh]

Me: "Ummm, well how come it isnt set up out here?"

Employee 2: "Eh, it came with a notice saying do not display until Microsoft rep properly installs it."

Employee 1: "Well I'm taking my break. I'll be in the back."

Me: "Bastard."

[Employee 1 walks to back to play 360, I limp out back to my car, having to wait longer to get my first next gen experience ]

Well, you have to remember that once the x360 comes out, they will still be working at wal-mart.

I just played it for a bit at my Wal Mart. Their setup sucks though because the controller is locked into place and their screen is above your head so you strain your neck looking up at the TV. The graphics are amazing and the controller feels right in your hand. I only play sports games so I didnt know what I was doing playing the Call of War demo but it seemed cool. Just my
2c.

I just played it at the Wal Mart in Alabaster, AL. As someone said earlier..the set up SUCKS. the Monitor is so high, your neck is KILLING you after playing for 5 minutes.

I played King Kong and Call of Duty 2. Call of Duty is FRIGGIN' BEAUTIFUL!! There were dozens of soldiers on screen with zero slowdown. The smoke effects are incredible. Definite must buy. So bright..and clear..and crisp. Just a beautiful beautiful game. King Kong was pretty friggin' sweet as well.

Overall...this system is going to have some gorgeous games and I plan on locking myself in my house for a week after thanksgiving.
