A couple of 'simple' XB360 questions....

I have a few simple (I think) XBOX360 questions. Cheers in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

    1. I basically don’t play online + I don’t actually play many games. Essentially, I want to get one of these babies for sports games. Thus, is there any logical reason I need anything other than the "core package"…ie, the cheaper one without XBLive + the hard drive? (XBLive is useless for me anyway I think as I’m not sure what country I’ll be living in in six months time)

    2. I don’t have a HD TV. I will probably end up getting one sometime down the track. Again, with moving and stuff, TV’s will have to wait until we re-settle. So… with just a ‘normal’ TV, will the XB360 graphics still be vastly superior to what I see now through my normal old Xbox?

DVD’s look great on my non HD TV…so will XBOX360 games still look great?

1 - For your needs, get the core and a memory card

2 - The graphical upgrade should be apparent, even on a non-HDTV (I'll be running mine on non-HD, as well). However, we won't get the benefit of higher resolution.

I'd get the one with the hard drive if you can afford it simply due to the overwhelming cost of a memory unit. I think they will be 40 bucks or so, and by the time you buy two, you've paid for the Hard drive and all the extra stuff.

The games will still look good even in SD.

I would get the one with the hard drive no matter what. the xbox arcade is sounding pretty cool and if you ever want to download any other content like roster updates, new maps, or game demos, etc... you will need the hard drive. and you get the wireless controller which is pretty cool. if you decide to buy all the extra stuff later you will end up spending more money for it. it is sounding to me like xbl will be for more than playing games.

I would not but the core system unless you just need to have one now and can't afford the hard drive.
          Memory Cards are the devil!

Cheers fellas. Good to know it will still look good on my non HD TV.

Still not decided which one I'll go with yet. Apreciate the advice

Get the one with the HD. If you don't and you decide later to get one, the HD alone costs 100.00.
If you get the one with the HD it also comes with the remote control and headset.
