PC Graphic Card Question: NVIDIA GeForce 4 420 Go

    Hey guys,

So I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that came with a NVIDIA GeForce 4 420 Go.

The specs on the card are:

    GeForce4 420 Go

    Fill Rate: 760 million texels/sec.

    GPU Core Clock: 190 MHz
    Memory Clock: 200 MHz
    Memory Bandwidth: 3.2 GB/sec.

Can someone explain what these numbers mean? IE: Put them in laymans terms?

Also, how often should you update the drivers? I assume you should keep it as up to date as possible?

    Thanks!

Layman's terms: The card is old.

My card is just a midrange card now and it has:

    Fill Rate: 5600 Million Texels/sec
    GPU Clock: 350mhz
    Memory Clock: 1000mhz
    Memory Bandwidth: 32.0 GB/sec

I wouldn't upgrade drivers too often. Nvidia likes to group drivers for all video cards in one package. They may not test that card for compatibility. I once upgraded to new drivers and all I got was a blank screen. New drivers are released for the benefit of new video cards for the most part.
