How much is Gamestop/EB's Extended Warranties?

I definitely won't be sleeping on the extended warranties? How does it work with GS/EB? With best buy, I paid like $20 for 2 years and I could bring it in and they'd replace it, no questions asked. Is it the same with the specialty stores?

The DVD drive in my PS2 conked out about a year and a half after I bought it.

So, I'd have to say that getting an extended warranty isn't a bad idea.

It's well worth it to get the extended warranty 1 year at EB is 25 bucks

Disagree 100 percent. Gaming consoles are incredibly fickle machines, especially as hard as some of us use them. Plus how do you think MS sold what effectively is a small PC for $199? By using some cheap parts -- and taking a healthy loss on every Xbox sold.

I paid $32 for a two-year extended warranty on my Xbox when I bought it in August 2002. I could have brought it back for a replacement, no questions asked, for any reason during that time. If my son broke off the tray, I'd get a new one. If I was f*cked up and took a piss on my Xbox, I'd get a new one.

Think about it: Complete peace of mind for two years for less than the price of a new game. That's a bargain.

I never buy extended warranties for anything except game consoles because they're such finicky pieces of equipment, especially when you buy them at launch. Launch machines almost always have some sort of small, niggling manufacturing problem.

I had to replace my first Xbox, which I bought at Wal-Mart. Luckily the Xbox went south about a week before Wal-Mart's 90-day warranty expired. I returned it and headed right to EB to buy another Xbox and bought the extended warranty. Can you imagine what would have happened if the Xbox I bought at Wal-Mart had died eight days later? I would have been sh*t out of luck and out of another 200 bones.

Extended warranties for game consoles are money well spent. I'm getting one whenever I get a new machine, every time.

        Take care,
        PK

Just pk said, $30 is well worth the peace of mind.
