Yea, games are usually still developed for about a year after a new console comes out. We should still see a few titles come Xmas 06.

Wrong they will still be making Xbox Games for 2008 and 2009. The installed base for the Xbox 1 is strong and the next gen Xbox isnt supposed to surpass the Xbox 1 untill Late-Early 2007.

BTW they still made Ps1 games 4 years after the Ps2 came out.

There is No cut off date lol, Xbox scene is alive and kicking on the homebrew front as well.

you also need to remember that everyone may not have money like you and I, so yes we can purcase the 360. There are still lots of gamers out there who have an xbox and could careless about the 360, so those people will still be gaming on there xbox, so if microsoft still would allow games to be made on the Xbox, I bet they still would sell pretty good for the next 3 years.

At X05 three weeks ago in Amsterdam, MS Xbox VP Peter Moore said more games would be produced and released for the Xbox in 2006 than in any of the previous four full years of the console's lifespan.

There's still plenty of life left in the old dog called the Xbox. Yet another reason why I'm in no massive hurry for the 360, especially since first-generation hardware almost always has some glitches and first-generation games usually aren't nearly as good as the second and subsequent generations.

Plus you know MS is going to cut the price as soon as the PS3 is released ...

I understand that. I just don't see them wasting money to port games to the Xbox. Since it's going to be using a different graphics engine/card, etc. This isn't going to be like making PS1 and PS2 games, and I'm sure there are still PS1 games being released. I just don't see Xbox games being made much after the end of 06. The only Xbox games that will come will be generic games by generic companies ala all the PS1 games. Do you honestly see EA making Madden 08 on the Xbox? I'm sure 07 will be on the Xbox.

Well, in order for M$ to make its money on the 360, at some point they will have to somewhat force you to get one. Discontinuing XBOX games is a start. The market for XBOX1 is still strong now but when the games start wearing thin, most ppl will start going the next-gen route. Plus, the 360s price will be at a resonable price by next christmas. I highly doubt that you'll see XBOX1 games in 3 years. As for the guy who said PS1 games were made 4 years after PS2, can you come up with some games that were made only a year ago?

Yep, I canned my 360 preorder the other day. I have no problems sticking with current gen stuff for another 8-12 months. One of the first times I'll be taking the wait and see approach.

I'll save money, avoid launch hardware problems, game droughts, and be able to see what Sony and Nintendo have in store.

Same with me, I want an HDTV before I get 360.

Exactly. I'm pretty certain I'm getting an Xbox 360, but I can wait awhile. I've never bought a console at launch, and I don't plan on it now. And I've owned an Intellivision, 8-bit NES, PlayStation, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2 and Xbox, never buying one at launch.

Kevin makes a great point about HDTV, too. I'd rather save for that than get a 360 right away, because everything will look better on an HDTV, not just games. And I do a hell of a lot more with my TV than just play games.

I guess if you don't have an HDTV, yeah, that would make sense. Even if I didn't, I'd rather spend the $ on the 360, then get an HDTV for cheaper down the road, as the price drop in those will be LARGER than one in the X360, if it ever happens.

Plus, after seeing the diff. in a game like NBA 2k6 for the 360 and XBox, I just can't stomach the Xbox anymore. It's long gone, thankfully.

PSX did it. I believe Madden 2004 was available for the PSX. So I'd say 2-3 years, there will still be new Xbox games made.
