Whats the difference between PS2 and Xbox online?

I am a PS2 owner but I plan on getting a Xbox360. What makes Xbox live so much better then the PS2's online gaming? Is there no slowdown?

Oh you dont know? Yo *** betta call somebody!!!!

Just joking with you man, I wont be able to comment on the XBOX 360s new Live service but on the regular XBOX compared to PS2, the diffrence is night and day. XBOX Live has a friends list in which you keep track off all your friends whenever they are playing any game on they're XBOX. If one of your friends is online, you can shoot him a verbal or non-verbal message and tell him to meet you online. Second is that you can communicate online via headset in all Live games so you can save your minutes on your cell phone if it comes down to it.

There is more but I gotta get out of here. I'm sure someone else will fill you in.

Plus, XBL can only be accessed by a highspeed connection.

I have a question about Xboxlive. When I pay my yearly fee how many online accounts can I create ? I'm thinking only one and thats my problem. I have two kids that like to play online and I wouldn't want them using my ID. Please correct me if I'm wrong I know nothing about the live service. On the other hand with my PS2 I can create multiple accounts for all our games with each one of us having our own ID for FREE ! Oh and I have never had any major issues with getting online, lag or disconnects. I like the way Sony does it.

I posted this in the other thread but no-one has replied. Since someone started this thread I thought I would post the question in here. Sorry for multi posts. Thanks.

The downloadable content is so much better too. Games can be patched up by the companies that issue the games. Plus, with a few games, you get live updates of things "outside" the gaming world. I think that if you're playing on College Hoops 2K6 or NBA 2K6 and a game was on TNT or ESPN, you'd see updates of that games at the bottom. I think that occurred a few times when I was on. I think.......

You only get 1. I've had the PS2 online and there is no choice to be made. LIVE is far superior IMO. Yes PS2 is "free" as long as you have the online adaptor, which allows anyone to connect. The lag was at some points terrible on PS2. I have highspeed and hated connecting witha 56k gamer. I know not everyone has high speed so it's good there is a system that allows them to play online.
Anyways for the price of 1 game you get a great online package for a year. Friends list, downloadable content, voice on all games and 1 connect method. With the PS2 the games each had different log ons / servers. There is no standard.

For live you will have guys who care about the product, 50 bucks a year is nothing ( first year free) when your getting what microsoft gives you..it was worth 50 when xbox live was around...and the 360 version will be far superior...

Things like the marketplace and little to no lag gets my 50 bucks right there..they also arent like sony..if theres problems they fix them. Sony doesnt because its free.

I bought Xbox Live last week after playing Socom 3 on PS2 Online for most of last month. I have to admit, I am enjoying Xbox Live much more than PS2 Online.

Halo 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and NBA 2K6 are the games I play the most. I love that three game rotation.
