If I get the $299.99 US Xbox 360, can I still go online on Xbox live and play people?

I just need this to be confirmed then a mod can lock this thread.

you would need to buy a memory card to store your xbox live account on. So tack $40 onto that. Just go for the premium with the hard drive its much more economical and useful.

No. I'm not asking my dad to shell out 499 bucks for a console as well as 2 games. Thatwill be 69.99

It's not like I'll be going to XBL as soon as i get it. Maybe like a few months after. So as long as I can play XBL, I'm good to get the silver edition.

Ya get the cheaper one, there will be 3rd party add on hard drives on the cheap trust me, thats what im doin too.

XBox live silver package, which is what comes with the $299 option (i think) allows you to get online, get content, friends list, all that stuff, but you can't actually play online multiplayer with the Silver service, gotta go Gold for that.

buying the core system really makes no sence at all, It's $299 for the core system, and you get one wired controller and thats it. You will still want to have the hard drive sooner or later, and thats $99.00, so right there buying the premuim system pays off. PLus you get the Live head set, the media remote and the wireless controller, plus the HDTV hookups with the premuim package, now if you are going to get the core system and then buy all these items seperate, then you will just be ripping yourself off bigtime. And games are $59.99 not 69.99

the point is after adding in the necessary memory card

core=339
premium=399

At least with the premium you get all the other extras which is well worth the cost in the long run.

Well, I knew I did well by not asking my parents for any B-Day or X-Mas presents for 3 straight years, even though they kept insisting that they get me something.

maybe this is the ps3, but i thought you could use the little memory cards that you use with digital cameras, as memory cards that you plug into the actuall system.
