XBOX 360: Paid In Full?

A few days ago I saw a thread that mentioned EB would "bump" your order if you paid in full. After finally deciding against camping out for a the system, I went in today and put my money down. I ordered the Premium System, NBA 2k6, Project Gotham 3, Perfect Dark Zero, and that little charge & play thing. All together it came to about $620. Once I got over the shock of my downsized wallet, I started talking to the manager about the number of Xbox 360s he planned on getting in. He told me that they had initially planned on getting around 50 premium and 20 core, but they're actually gonna be getting 20 Premium and 1 core (yes, 1... nobody wants the damn things according to him). So I talk to him a little bit more and ask him when he thought I might recieve my shipment. His reply?

"Hell man, you should be good? I don't think you'll get it the first day, but it'll be close to it. Not a lot of you have paid in full, those of you that did will get bumped up a lot. You'll have yours early, count on it."

I don't know if he was blowing smoke up my *** or not, but I'm glad I threw down the full amount. I have no problem hopping in front of those who only put down $50. lol.

The point of this thread? Try to pay off your Xbox 360s now if you preordered at EB.

Granted they are different stores, but I had my system paid in full and was told since I was 40 on the list and they were only getting 20, I'd be lucky to have mine by January....

Just got a call from EB and they confirmed I would be getting my 360 on launch day. They also asked that I pay my 360 off before the 22nd but not because of priority. They just want to be able to make launch day go faster.

No doubt. I'm not trying to cause panic that all EB stores are doing the pratice that I described, just that it's better to be safe than sorry if you're able to help it. I have a friend in Philly who was #2 on the preorder list back when he ordered in May/June, now he's not guaranteed a launch console according to the store. He hadn't paid his off yet because he likes doing it when he picks up his items. It could be a coincidence, but going from #2 to possibly not getting one on launch is a bit strange.

Didn't say you were trying to raise a panic. I'm sure it happens a lot (unfortunately not at my EB). But whatever. I pre-ordered at Toys R US today and will get my money back from EB tomorrow. I don't care, as long as I have the system come the 22nd.

He was blowing smoke up your ***. If I were to get done like that, I'd sue enough request to know who his district manager is and his phone number. That ain't right! No one should get preferential treatment because they paid theirs off.

The topic Buddy Knox raises is somewhat true about people possibly getting bumped at EB. I preordered in July and paid in full this past Friday. While at EB I spoke with the manager about my brother who did not preorder possibly getting a 360 on launch. The manager mentioned to me he was calling people about the shortage and those who had not paid in full. I was told that if my brother paid in full and purchased 3 or 4 extra items he would get a 360 on launch. I told my bro the news and he thought about over the weekend because it is a lot of money to throw down at once. He just called me at work and told me he just left EB after speaking with the manager. He purchased the 360 with the hard drive and three extra items and was told he is getting the system on launch, remember he did not preorder the system. So buddy knox's statement does have some validity to it.

Yeah, those are the games with the package. Hope to return NBA Live and Kameo. I want NBA2K6 rather than live. As to Kameo, the only RPG I want is Oblivion. I'm also going to pick up COD 2; PGR and maybe condemned. Condemned looks scary as all hell but should be amusing to play through.

While I'm not a colt's fan, I'm looking forward to the game as in NJ they are not on all that often and I want to see them, especially now that the defense is good. It would be nice to see Manning finally beat New England.

Unless they already guaranteed you a launch console in writing, there's really nothing you'd be able to do if it happened to you except be upset. You could call the district manager, but he'd probably just feed you a line about the shortage, he's sorry, and you'll get one as soon as more come in.

yeah the preferential treatment sucks, but hell i've already purchased mine. it's survival of the fittest baby lol. cash rules, so you almost have to expect like things like this might happen when something is as hot as the 360 is now.

yeah, when i tried to order at Toys R' Us they were already out of the preorders. it only took a couple of hours because when i called the night before they hadn't started. I can't blame you for wanting to get rid of Live and Kameo. if the only thing different about the current version of 2k6 is the graphics, it will still be great. Kameo... eh, it could be good, but i'm not much into those "cartoony" looking titles.

COD 2 looks awesome. I contemplated picking this one up, i still might next week depending on how my finances look. Condemned should be good too, i'm just not sure how much longevity it will have after you're finished with the mission. regardless, you should have some good stuff to play.

As for the game tonight. I've got the food, i've got the drinks, and I've got my football watching chair set. This is the one I've been waiting for all year. We should've had them the first time we played them last year, but we let it slip away. Hopefully, we can finally get over this hump. It will be nice to finally have people off of Peyton's back.

i hope this holds true for the gamestop i reserved mine at... by next week my xbox360 premium will be paid off in full, on top of reserving other items like the play and charge kit, another wireless joystick, NBA 2k6 & Call Of Duty 2.
