    ***Official FACEplate Thread***

A WEBSITE DOING VINYL COVERS WITH SUBMIT YOUR OWN ... http://www.360covers.com/servlet/StoreFront

A thread for all talk on faceplates...

I don't really like my choices I've seen thus far. The wood grain would be the best, I guess.

Anyone else planning on custom painting theres? I probably will over Christmas or Thanksgiving Break. I'm thinking either ...

I like the Beach Scene idea, it'd be awesome since I live right near the beach.

I could see myself getting a Wave faceplate.

Id love to see a Chicago bears one, it would have some design in the back and say " chicago bears" and have the logo.

And i heard you can mod your 360/controller color ( there was a mod already where on the controller they changed the light color to light blue) so if thats possible for the system..blue and orange

they do that because they don't want you to be using mods to pirate games...

I am not a serious modder at all. Actually none. But painting the faceplate is cool with me. I wonder if they will sell one that is blank and has a surface suitable for painting.

Yep. I'm just going to pain mine also if I can't figure out a way to make them out of decals.

Get the exact dimensions of the face, create a high quality graphic like the ones SkyBoxer has done and get them printed out at Kinko's for a few bucks. It might take a few tries to figure out what size on the computer equates to the exact size of the face, but using something like Photoshop you should be able to get it right in a couple of tries.

Once you have the file exactly correct to fit, you need to buy some stickers. Go to RippedSheets.com, they sell all kinds of labels, stickers, ect. The best bet is probably the high quality removable stickers(so half of the sticker doesn't stay on the face if you try to remove it). Buy some sheets big enough to fit, take them to Kinko's with your file and get the correct sized file printed off onto the stickers.

Take a razor blade and have some patience and cut out your design in the shape of the 360 face. Peel off, stick on to the face and enjoy.

The downside is you will have to buy a pack of at least 10 stickers which will be close to $40. Overall it's not bad, you will get out under $5 per sticker, but if you only have the desire to make one, painting would probably be cheaper. But the stickers do leave you the option of changing your face up a few times, which would be nice.

Thanks for the tips, but my concern with that is putting a flat sticker on a curved surface often results in wrinkles. (I am assuming the faceplate is semi-rounded)

Ah, good point. If you make your graphic simple(like that Yankees one), and make it a bigger than needed(add extra of the background color around the edges) you should be able to make it work. A small cut is usually enough to let you flatten out bubbles.

You are right though, that will be a problem, definitely didn't think about that.

I would still try the sticker thing first, but that's just me. I would feel uneasy about painting a new system, I think that would be my last choice if I HAD to have a different face.

I don't HAVE to get a new face. Just think it would be unique. I wouldn't be painting the whole system, I'd pop the face off and paint it. Are those stickers you are talking about clear or do they have white background?

You can probably get both. That site has everything you could ever want as far as stickers and labels go. They also have static cling stickers, those would be really easy to switch out if they would stick to the plastic on the xbox(and if you could work out the curve issue).
