I'm still not sure about the Dreamcast being the best though. Three of their best titles are fighters, doesn't give much of a variety. And Soul Caliber was the only launch title they had with any staying power. But I guess the rest of the system launches don't look all that great either....

Re: 360 has the best launch lineup ever...
Dreamcast to me had the best launch. NFL2K was gods gift to gaming at the time, even the EA people were foaming at the mouth. Soul Calibur a universal favorite, I know it is a forgotten game now, but Ready to Rumble definately looked "next gen" at the time. Sonic Adventure was a lot of fun. And there were many other games at launch.
Xbox 1 had Halo, PDZ will not match that in the least at least from the early buzz. NFL Fever looked Next Gen, DOA3 was beautiful and dropped everybody's jaw unlike DOA4 which doesn't look all that much better other than the arenas. I loved Oddworld, thought it was a fun game and looked next gen as well.
Even Gamecube had Rogue Leader which looked better than any Star Wars game to date at launch.
My problem with the 360 launch is while it has a lot of games, it has a lot of PC ports that are already out now, and some not so astonishing games along with them. Kameo, looks great but then I ask myself if this game were coming out on Xbox 1 would I care? Out of all of the 360 launch games only one looks like NOTHING I have seen before and that is NBA2K6 and I don't like basketball, so that makes this launch lineup somewhat disappointing.Comment

Re: 360 has the best launch lineup ever...
For its time, I'd have to say Nintendo because the games were much better then anything from previous consoles. Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. took up ALOT of my time.
As for more recent consoles, I'd have to say Dreamcast. NFL and NBA 2k games TO ME, were such an upgrade over any other football or basketball game I had ever played in the past. I wasn't even expecting to buy the DC, but I was in the mall at launch to buy a CD and I decided to pick up the DC because I saw NBA 2k on the screen. Man, let me tell you, it was very pleasantly surprised when I popped in NFL and NBA. Two terrific games.Comment

Re: 360 has the best launch lineup ever...
I was actually WAY more excited for the PS2 launch. I preordered the console and was getting overnight delivery. The games were out early so I bought them and the extra controller and the extension cables before the PS2 arrived.
A buddy of mine came over, we took the rest of the week off of work. I can't remember all the games I bought but I did have
Madden 2001
NHL 2001
SSX
Kessen
TimeSplitters
I can't remember the other two. I thought it was awesome. THat 'next gen' jump for Madden was HUGE at the time from the PS1. I thought it looked so real. Compared to the jump in the next Madden it was way more dramatic. Back then I was a huge NHL fan so that kicked *** and SSX was AWESOME. I played that until the sun came up the next day.
This launch I was pumped for Oblivion but that won't be out until god knows when. Madden....meh doesn't do a thing for me. COD looks good, maybe Kameo, and NBA 2K6, which although looks very nice I am still rebuying a game that I have been playing since September.
Not as excited about this launch. If they had G.O.W., Oblivion, and a more exciting Madden, THEN I'd by more hyped.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Never understood why people say the Dreamcast launched with those games.
When in fact, it launched with Godzilla Generations, July, Pen Pen Tri-Icelon, Virtua Fighter 3tb. The games being mentioned in this article were for when the Dreamcast came out in the U.S.
It's not fair to compare a game lineup for the U.S. that took place almost a year after the console actually debut to other consoles launch lineups.Last edited by Flawless; 11-14-2005, 08:38 AM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: ***Official FACEplate Thread***
Yeah if you want to take apart your controller and possibly ruin it.
It really sucks there are no screws on the xbox for us serious modders, I dont just want to be able to mod a lame faceplate....
Re: Beluba or any VC staff What is up with your rosters?
This is one of the main reasons why Ps2 and Ps3s online structure is gonna succeed and is better.

Re: 360 has the best launch lineup ever...
Originally posted by SullyI thought the Xbox lineup was horrible, when looking back on it.
Halo, PGR2, and...I'm drawing a blank.
I think I purchased Max Payne, but that's not a launch title I'd brag about.
PGR is one of my favorite racers ever. The AI sucked but everything else was brillant to me. That was then. Now the system has been oversaturated with racers, making that genre very hard to sell me on, especially when I found PGR2 to be a letdown.
SSX Tricky had a lot of multiplayer value and also was a blast. Amped 3 in comparison looks very forced, not to mention weak visually.
Oddworld 3 was very fun as well, don't see all the hate towards it. Kameo looks like it has potential, the knock though is it looks like it was built on the GC still. If I was getting the system, this would be something I'd pick up.
Max Payne was spectacular, started the whole bullet time deal. Condemed(the other game I'd get) looks cool, but not as cool as fear(which i'd get the system for)...and nobody knows what PD's colors are.Comment

Re: 360 has the best launch lineup ever...
I think the 360 has some pretty good launch titles. I'm not interested in any of them unfortunately so I'll be skipping on getting a launch system though.
I do think the N64 had some nice titles. Mario 64 was a good one and I though the Star Wars Shadows of the Empire was a lauch title as well. I liked that game. I think the only system I have ever gotten at launch was the N64 and Gamecube. I've had every system except the Dreamcast, but strangely, I never got them until they were out by at least 5 months. I don't remember when I got the Nintendo, I was around 3rd grade I think and I can't remember when I got it. Too long ago.
