Divine Blessing (A True 360 Story)

Part 1: A great thing has happend, and I'm stoked! I'm a regular and popular customer at the local EB. I even worked last Christmas for them part time. Sometimes I get special treatment from everyone in the store including the manager. If the store gets something special in, I'm the first to know. If the manager goes to a game convention for EB, I get first dibbs on anything she brings back. Or if a new high-in-demand game comes in, I don't have to reserve, they just put one aside for me. That was then........

Part 2: I was the first one at my EB that was told that I could start pre ordering for the XBOX 360. But when I was told, it was bad timing because I was in between jobs. I couldn't afford the $20 that it was to pre order, so I had to wait. About 2 1/2 months later, I finally got a job. The job deoesn't pay a lot, but it was better than having no money. By the time I recieved my first paycheck, the pre order went up to $50, so I paid it. That was in the middle of August........

Re: Divine Blessing (A True 360 Story)

Part 3: Well, the 360 was now 2 1/2 weeks away. I had mines paid off and ready to go. All I had to work on were games and accesories. At that time, there were rumors going around that there would be 360 shortages. It was all over the internet, including GameFaqs. I go to EB almost everyday on my lunch break to eat and talk to whoever is working. I asked the manager if she heard of any shortages. She told me that she had a total of 165 reservations and that she expected to get 64 on her first shipment. She looked to see where I was on the list and she told me that I would be fine. A few days later on my lunch visit, I could tell that something was wrong. The manager was not as lively and talkative to me. She pretty much didn't talk besides saying hi when I would come in. Then it finally happend...She told me that her shipment was cut in half by Microsoft and that she was only getting 32 360s...My stomach turned...I waited for a few days to see if I was going to be called for the first shipment or the second...I never recieved the call. That night I saw a post on here by that WWFE1 guy. He said that Gamestop and EB's were not getting the big shipments, and that Walmart And Best Buy were the way to go. I prayed about it that night and went to EB the next morning. The manager was acting even more strange. I think she knew that I was going to ask her the million dollar question...So, I finally did..."Will I get my 360 on the first shipment?" She told me "No." I told her and another employee there that I heard Walmart was getting a larger first come, first serve shipment. I told them that I was thinking of getting most of my money back and leave $50 there just in case to hold my spot. I told them I would then go to Walmart for the midnight launch. They told me if I took my money, that I would have to take all of it off and loose my spot. No turning back. That sucked......

    To Be Concluded..........

Part 4: I went home after work dissapointed. I had to think of a plan B. I had worked too hard for this system. I always bought my systems on launch, because it was tradition. I sat at my computer looking at all the posts on GameFaqs and came to the realization that I probably wasn't going to have that shiny new XBOX 360 on launch. I really wanted it for the Thanksgiving holiday for all my family to enjoy. I went to Walmart that night and saw the 360 in action for the first time live! If my eyes could evaporate, they would have right there. The graphics were amazing. The only problem was that this little snot nosed kid was playing and wouldn't get off. He was playing King Kong and kept dying over and over again. Everytime he died, he would turn around and look at me, then go back to playing! I got so annoyed, I almost shoved him off. After 45 minutes of waiting, I finally had the privaledge to hold that beautiful pearl white controller that matched that even more beautiful super powerful white XBOX 360 behind the glass. I was floored by the whole experience, and stayed on it over a hour myself! I know other people were mad at me like I was at that kid! After I came back to reality, I asked the sales lady what time did they get their shipment in. She told me that they will go on sale at 12:01 am on the 22nd, and everyone has been asking about them. I went back home and sat down in deep thought. My Aunt came into the room and asked how I was doing. I told her the story up to this far. I told her that I would probably go to Walmart after work at 7:30 on the 21st to wait for the midnight launch. The next statement was golden that came out of her mouth. She said, "I'll wait in line for you, as long as you get me a pack of ciggaretts!" I was like I will buy you some cartons if you do that! She says, "How does 3:30pm on the 21st sound?" I was like wow, you will really wait for me? She said sure! You are my nephew, and I love you! That was a Kodak moment! So, the plan was, she waits at Walmart from 3:30 to 7:30pm. Then When I got there after work at 7:30, she could go home and I take her spot in line, if there was one. It was a good plan, but risky!

The rest of Part 4 on the way!........

Re: Divine Blessing (A True 360 Story)

Part 4 concluded: I was going to wait until a couple of days before launch to take my money off at EB, just in case a miracle happend. I prayed a long prayer that night. That night, I had a dream...The dream was that I went to EB one day, and the manager tells me an amazing story and because of what happend, I am now on the first shipment! I then woke up very dissapointed to find that it was but a dream! I went to EB the next day on my lunch break like I normally did. I told my friend who was working there my Walmart plan, and she wished me luck. We had gotten paid a day early because of Veterans day. I told my employee friend to save me a copy of Kameo behind the counter, and that I would pick it up after work. If I was going to buy something that day, I would usually buy it then on my lunch break. I don't know why I didn't do it this time!...She told me "OK." Fast forward to that evening around 7:30 pm. I was in the store talking to the employee working then. I bought my copy of Kameo and hung around for a while and talked. For some reason I didn't leave that store. Around 8:30pm, the store got pretty busy. The employee working was working by himself that night, so he was trying to put games on the shelves and answer customers questions. The phone rang, and rang, and rang. I was up at the counter with this young teenage customer, who was pretty much bragging because he was on the first shipment. Finally the employee yelled for me to answer the phone. I thought he was playing because it had almost been a year since I worked there. The phone rang like 8 times. I'm sure they were going to hang up. I answered. "Thank you for calling EB Games. My name is "blank", how may I help you?" A women's voice came on the phone and explained that she had recieved a phone call from the manager at EB about her 360. She had reserved it for her husband back in June. She said she didn't realize that the system was going to be over $400. She went on to say that her husband didn't play games that often to buy a $400 system. She wanted to come in before they closed at 9:00pm to get her money back. She had put $100 on it in June, and was number 5 on the first shipment list. I told her to hold on and gave the phone to the employee. I almost passed out. She explained to him what she told me, and he told her to hurry up and come before they closed. The moment of truth....She arrived with her husband at 8:54pm. To make this long story short...I took off my second shipment reservation and paid her $100 out of my money for her #5 spot...I have it squared away with the manager, and now I'm ready to pick my system up at launch! The Lord is Good! Its all because my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ works in mysterious ways!...........The End........for now

And one of those. I am glad for you that it worked out after all of your hard work to buy your system and get it at launch. But do you really think with all of the prayers around the world, this was a top priority over say, someone dying from Cancer wanting just one more day with thier family? Enjoy your videogame system, it sounds like you wouldn't have lived without it.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

There's more important things in life to pray for, there's more important things in life to thank god for as well.

                  Anyways.........

It's actually hilarious if you read the whole thing.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

It seems like the only thing you could think about was the 360, like if you didn't get it at lauch you were just going to die or somthing. My man your hanging around ebgames like it's the hot spot of the month, wow.... May I ask how old are you?
