If your getting the $400 one you get a remote anyway, but i'm pretty sure you can use the controller.

Yeah but I was forced to make the decision of getting the Premium after Christmas or getting the Core on Tuesday. I decided to get the Core so I was just wondering if I absolutely had to buy the remote to watch DVD's.
