Are any stores taking pre-orders for PS3 yet?

Does anyone know if any of the large, and reliable, stores (EB, Gamestop, etc.) are taking PlayStation 3 pre-orders yet?

I am not one to stand in line for hours in the hopes of getting a system, and would like to start considering pre-ordering a PS3 for it's release in the spring.

Does anyone know if this can be done yet, and how much money does one have to put down to be guaranteed a 1st shipment PS3?

    Thanks.

I can make a pretty assured prediction that January will be the month stores start taking PS3 pre-orders. Microsoft could afford to wait until E3 (May) of the release year to fully reveal the system, because there was no pressure. Sony cannot, and therefore, will roll out some concrete PS3 info at the next huge trade show for games and entertainment, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) -- which is in January. The PS3 is supposed to launch during the Spring in Japan, with a "Holiday 2006" release for the U.S.
