Fan noise and Over-heating of XBOX 360

just wanted to ask you all if you have noticed how much louder the fan sounds when you are playing the 360 games. and how warm the back of the unit is along with the cd? do u think that is a sign of a "non-functional" system? or is this normal? just wondering what you have observed from your machine.

i noticed mine was quite warm. the fan doesn't bother me at all. I might hook up a small fan behind it to keep it cool.

The fan is louder then any other console, but that doesn't mean its loud enough for you to notice unless you're trying to listen for it.

My 360 isn't really hot at all. Just a little warm, but nothing too bad.

My console isnt really hot but it is definently warmer then the other systems I have, and I can hear the fan but only when Im listening for it in particular. I think it will be fine but I guess only time will tell.

The fan isn't really that loud, still louder than I'd like though. I can't even hear it when I'm playing COD2. Although that game is so intense I can't hear anything else anyways. lol

Been playing COD for a while, Halo 2, NBA Live demo, etc. So far the system isn't really hot at all. My PS2 slim gets much hotter. No worries hear so far.

I have mine in a cabinent with my other components and noticed it is really hot. I didn't have any problems with games freezing and played for a few hours at a time.

The brick gets hot while you are playing, but quickly cools down after you turn off the system. I would make sure you have proper ventilation in the back of the system if you have it in a cabinet.

Mine is loud and warm in the back but it was on four hours straight and no freezing or any other problems so thats a good sign.

Yep I need to get mine out of the shelf also so there is more air ventilization. Or I might just buy a couple of those minature fans.

Re: Fan noise and Over-heating of XBOX 360

When i hooked my 360 up...It was i guess you could say kinda confined and it was horizontal and well i played like that for about half hour to an hour between PGR3 and NBA 2k6...and PGR3 froze. I checked the system and it was really hot. So I read the manual and it said it had to be kept in a place where none of the vents are blocked. So I took it out and now its vertical next to my tv and not once has it gotten hot. Its cool nor warmth to it. Also my 360 fan is not loud either, everything is running really smooth.

If you guys move your 360 do you hear something move inside? I've read this off a different forum and when I took mine out of the box I heard a little rattle.

I have the little rattle in mind and it had me on edge when I was hooking it up fearing that I got a defective one. Knock wood but so far all has been good...

I heard that you shouldn't move the xbox when there is a disc playing inside.
