Hmm... Not too many HDTV's are 1080p native right now. Good for those that haven't bought an HDTV and are going to spend the extra cash a 1080p set will cost, but not really a system seller IMO for those that already have an HDTV that isn't 1080p native (which is probably most).

That's the main reason I didn't buy a new HDTV last month. 1080p is just a bonus that I will want to have when gaming. That's all.

Has it been confirmed or talked about even?

I think we'll find out more when the new year begins. Sony will release more details I'm sure by late January-Early February. I'm betting on an April release.

I'm not the guy who cares much for others "weekly" opinions. 1080p will be badass. No doubt. Hey, I'm not trying to downplay the 360, it's a hell of system. It will be better in my eyes when I can play Halo 3 with it.

Decent read but no booyah there seriously. What does all that mean if I can't really use it to its full potential? Honestly, the Bluetooth is hot. Wi-Fi is nice but how often will I use that? Rather go online. Online sounds quite lacking for Sony....AGAIN!! Not to mention the fact that a lot of those games that would boast the 1080p will be eating up that Blu-Ray disc quick. Sony will be a great system, but definitely not something that will crush Microsoft. Heck, I'd be surprised if Sony and Micorosft even become equal come 2006 with those multi-platform games that do push hardware to the max. What will NBA 2K7 look like on PS3? How is the online going to be? The system and games have to go hand in hand and so far, Microsoft seems to be more about the longterm playability than Sony. Just my opinion. The specs and assumptions all over the internet praise one for their less than stellar past and doubt one for their lack of acceptance. This is a totally new generation of gaming. This one is more balanced.......

I'm not getting the 360 for a little while, (I'm picking up College Hoops 2k6 today instead) but to me the best part of the system is the Media Center capabilities and the Marketplace...things that no one is talking about.

I'm sure 1080p is going to be great and all, but there is no way I'm ditching my 1080i for a number of years...I'm not that much of a videophile to be dropping over $2k on a tv every couple of years.

As far as picture/gaming quality I'm sure they are going to be about the same...of course the 360 is out now and my understanding is that the PS3 will launch in Japan in the spring and in the US in the Fall...if you want HD gaming over the next 10-12 months it's going to be 360 or nothing.

Yah, I totally agree. THe only one that even semi sparked my interest was reason number one: the blu-ray disc. Excuse me while I go play my Xbox 360 and enjoy next gen NOW... haha

Also, I swear I read somewhere Halo 3 is done and will drop the same day as PS3. Anyone know more?

Halo 3 just started production in September, so it's far from done, and I wouldn't expect it until 2007, sometime around when the movie hits theaters.

Not the worst list but lets just say I was only semi-impressed by a few things. Maybe if I knew the price, if the controller is as bad as it looks or not and other things I might be interested in the PS3.

I must say, I love Sony. But that list wasn't THAT great, I have to admit that. I really did like what they said about 1080p. I don't have an HDTV but now I think I'm going to ask my family if they want to get a really good HDTV as a family gift for Xmas. And wait til PS3 to drop and grab that (that is... If it doesn't lose many of its games' developers like I read in one article. Just cuz its coming out later).

But it's too early to even say anything about PS3. There is hardly any info out right now, I can't see anyone saying 360 is better than PS3, vice versa.

I'm waiting for the PS3 instead, but only because I only need one of them, and I thought about this long and hard, I think both systems will be terrific, Its just that a few exclusives for the PS3 sold me. My cousin has an xbox 360 and after seeing a few games last night, I dont see how anyone could go wrong getting the 360.

I hate fanboyism, I would like to see two great systems with alot of great games, just like in the ps2/xbox wars.

You really cant go wrong with either one, and I dont think because of the financial costs, that as many people will be buying both like they did last time, so that should make for some tough decisions.

Don't the current HDTV's have 1080? Isn't that just the resolution? I was at Best Buy today and there were a bunch that were like 1200 x 800 or something.....wouldn't that support 1080?
