My mother wants an Xbox 360

Man the hype for these things is off the meter. It's all over the local news, rioting at Wal-Marts, armed robberies, everyone is talking about it. But I never expected to hear my mom, who barely knows what pac-man is, say she wants an Xbox 360. I was actually looking over my shoulder leaving Toy R us this morning, looking for muggers. Man, Bill Gates and the boys are geniuses and if there never really was a shortage, there may be one now.

And I will totally disagree with you here. You have people waiting in line for hours to drop $400+ on your new game machine and yet they are turning away customers because there arent enuff sitting on the shelves. You think companies who have titles out for launch are happy that customers that want to buy the 360 cant? MS doesnt make any more money because the 360 is hard to find, the game publishers make less money because potential customers are turned away. To me, and I love my Xbox, any launch where potential paying customers go home with money in hand is a failure.

Now with that said, I read a rumor about 2 weeks ago that the 360 first day launch would be smaller than expected. They would then flood the stores with them in the weeks to come with a large supply they were sitting on to take advantage of the 'shortage'. If that is what is really going on then kudos to Microsoft as it will probably work very well. But if the fact is they just couldnt meet demand because they tried to launch worldwide this year then I say they screwed up and screwed up pretty big.

As I said in another post, EB told me that only late or unfullfilled preorders will be getting systems this year. How true is that? I don't know.

I'm agreing with the false "shortage", because if they had enough for everyone then there's not that much press about it. Now the 360's the "it" thing to have, and everyone (and the original poster's mother) wants one. In a week or two they'll all be available, and more will most likely be sold than if a launch went perfect supply wise.

Here's hoping mine sells on e-bay, i was gonna keep it but at what they were going for I couldn't resist, i can handle not having a 360 for up to a month.

it was tough, but if it works out I'll have a 360 for free, so we'll see
