360.

It has 3 cores running at 3.2ghz each. Each core is capable of 2 threads. The GPU also is very high end.

You could get a dual core AMD or Intel chip, but you will be spending a pretty penny. Much more than the $400 360 when you are done building the pc.

Which is better for gaming?

That one is harder to answer, depends on the individual. Pros and cons for both the 360 and pc.

$3000 PC or 500$ console. Depends what games you like. From my expirance PC is only good for FPS and point & click type games.

I wouldn't get an alienware specifically because they are overpriced, I'd build my own.

I prefer PC over any console any day because the games are just better imo. Graphics aren't everything, gameplay is. For me it's all about the sims, battlefield 2, gta:sa, some RTS games, and you can play emulators, and all the other stuff that's out there.

The good thing about PC is, if you have the necessary funds, you can keep upgrading and it has the power to overtake 360/ps3.

It's all personal preference. Check out what games there are for 360 and compare it with the PC. If you find the 360 has games that interest you more than the PC, then go get it! If not, then the PC is for you!

I'm cool with consoles. No patches or compatablility problems.

But PC has a wider selection of games.

Alienware sucks, just check out their rep on the net and you'll see. And why are you comparing a $500 console to basically a $3000 pc? Apples and oranges..
