On that day the 360 sold out and stores have yet to recieve a "second shipment".
Here's the part I don't get.
In this day and age where anything you can think of "leaks" to the internet, we have not recieved ONE piece of information on the 360's next shipment.
Just looking through the posts on this board you hear information like "It'll be shipping Black Friday" or "Not Until January".
According to Microsoft they will be sending new shipments out every week. So why then do the guys at EB say "not until January" yet Best Buy says "December 1st"?
Well, I'd say they are all right. Here's why.
While renting a movie at my local Blockbuster last night I asked the clerk when they would be getting more 360's in. She told me they sold out of pre-order's in the first 2 minutes and that Xbox 360's would not be available again until January. Now I could have ran home and posted that information on the internet but it's not correct. After asking a few more questions I learned 2 things:
1) My Blockbuster sold out in 2 minutes - but they only got 2 consoles!

2) What the clerk REALLY meant when she said "no more shipments until January" was "No more shipments to this rinky-dink BlockBuster until January".
My point is this. I think every store is different and when people hear one store clerk (who probably has no clue anyways) talk about the shipments, they take it as gospel and fire posts all over the internet.
I'd be willing to bet BestBuy, Future Shop, and Walmart get replenished with healthy "wacks" of systems every week. I'd also bet that your local Blockbuster or EB won't have any available for sale until January because
a) they don't get that many consoles in the first place and b) they've pre-sold all of them already.
This whole thing is 90% hype and 10% truth...we need to settle down.
