Why don't stores sell 360's for more?
I know there's MSRP (Manufaturer Suggested Retail Price) and in some industries there's MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) but I've never heard of a maximum price. Can Microsoft tell them they're not allowed to charge more than $299 & $399? If not why don't the stores sell them for a little more now? I'm sure people would be more than willing to pay it and get it directly from a store vs. going on Ebay.

It would be viewed as an unethical business move to some consumers.
It's not a bad idea from a money making standpoint, but do you really want to alienate those consumers who may buy at your store by price gouging?
Plus, why sell it for more when your competition will sell it for the MSRP when they get shipments in?
Enough consumers will wait to buy it at 400 as opposed too another price.BeyondMediaOnline.com -

Jacking the price up SOUNDS a lot more evil than packing 360s into ridiculous bundles.Comment

Agreed. Plus, everyone would have to jack it up at the same time, cause if one store has an inflated price... no one would buy it from there.Rose City 'Til I Die

actually, im sure MS controls the price. MS most likely wouldnt sell the retailer any systems unless they sign a contract saying they will sell for the price MS sets. The last thing MS wants is official retailier selling systems for twice what MS said they would be available for.Comment
