    360 to utilize HD-DVD....sort of

I read in Game Informer that the 360 will have a HD-DVD next year. HOWEVER, this will only be for movies. Games will NOT be in this format. There is supposedly a 360 game in development that will be 4 DVD's!

That's pretty ********, I guess Microsoft likes losing money.

I believe Enchant Arm is the game that will be 4 DVD's :y4:. The game has hours and hours of HD FMV's.

I will still continue to enjoy the 360 even without HDDVD or Blu-ray.

I wonder how much the DVDs will be compared to Blu Ray? It is apparent that Blu Ray is suppose to be more in development costs right? I wonder will those four discs be <, =, or > the Blu Ray Disc not to mention how much they might sell that four disc game for. Can't wait for Gears of War for crying out loud.......

That's great. I can't wait to get one when Gamestop fills my order in 2008.
Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.

                here is my question...

if the 360 can output a game in HD, what makes it difficult to output a movie in HD? Is DVD space simply the answer? The only thing that is stopping this from happening is that a full length movie in HD would occupy more than 1 dvd?

so technically, the xbox 360 could show HD movies, but obviously they wouldnt be full length? or am i just totally off base there?

One thing I know is those with component inputs only will be out of luck when HD and Blu Ray release, as they will only be supporting HDMI/DVI connections. Those hooking up players to component connections will only receive 480p resolution, so if MS adds an HD drive to the 360 then it will definately have to include an HDMI output that most have been calling for, but those without the connections, like myself will have no need to upgrade.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

No, you are right. It's only the space. Remember downloading the HD preview movies for the Xbox 360? How big are they compared to regular SD movies? They're like 4x the size..

Yep, that's the one. Space shouldn't be too much of a problem most games.

Yeah, this really sucks for many of us, the early adopters that helped support HDTV in it's infancy. Now we get screwed for not having the latest and greatest. The good news is HDCP, the encryption alogrithm used over HDMI inputs, has been hacked.
