    EA responds to next gen

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

12:03 Electronic Arts bigwigs have spoken out: and the future isn't quite as rosy as they thought it would be. The publishing giant has downgraded its projected net revenue and earnings per share figures for the third and fourth quarters of this financial year. And it's all the fault of the next-gen consoles, apparently.

Well maybe if they would have hired enough programmers to do their next-gen games like Madden, Tiger and NBA Live correctly and not chop out 50% of everything on the old-gen games then their games wouldn't be getting their butts kicked so badly by TakeTwo and all the other publishers? Just my 2 cents...

Not really the case. They're pretty much blaming MS on the low numbers but I'll say that the review sites, many of which gave honest reviews and finnally blasted EA's games, had a hand in the low expectations.

Maybe they spend too much $$$ on the NFL License. Thats what they get for taking away the competition. NFL2K6 would have looked so good on the Xbox 360.

They've had a crappy year. But MS's 360 launch is just as bad and is a bad start with 3rd parties.

EA's 360 games took a beating in reviews. Madden and NBA Live seemed to considered merely "passable" by most reviewers and Fifa and Tiger were downright blasted. It's hard to feel for a company that envisions a bleaker future when they're clearly not doing everything they can to put the best possible products on the market.

Plenty of EA games have gotten crappy reviews and sold tons. The reason the 360 titles didn't move is because of the shortage, it's affecting every publisher, or did you miss the part where Actitivsion(COD2) blamed MS as well.

Not by most major review sites. 8 and higher has been the standard for any EA game when it comes to major mags and sites. Now that you see 6s and 7s sprinkled all around that would leave a bad taste and any gamers mouth. The shortage is part of the blame but I think its mostly due to the dismal reviews they've been recieving.

Shortage causing EA to have bad sales? BS!

EA use to have a superior product and a committed fan base. I was one that used to believe that EA was the best at making sports games until Live 05 and Madden 05 came out. It went downhill from there. If you are to eliminate the competition, you have to step your game up and EA didnt. They keep reinventing the wheel ala Madden. Then they release Madden 360 Limited Control Edition. Next, EA released NBA Live 06 360 and that game flat out sucks.

For EA to blame someone else or for anyone to take sides with EA is simply crazy. EA brought this on themselves by not taking risks and not listening to die hard consumers.

Shortage? Cmon...a better excuse is somewhere out there.

That's so true. Not to mention, they can't really claim a shortage unless every person out there with a 360 has already bought there games, and I know for a fact that a lot of Xbox users aren't rushing out to get Madden and Live along with their new 360's. That's their own fault, not Microsoft's...

I am not anit Ea or anything like that but years ago people though that EA sports made the best sports games out and they could do no wrong. At the present time that this is not the case anymore. Of course this is a matter of opinion but I believe that most people feel the the EA sports games have gone down over that last few years.

The reviews for their 360 games say it all.

Before I get bashed I do have Madden and Tiger 360.

For some odd reason I always buy EA games EVERY YEAR. I have Live and Madden for 360 and I am very, very disappointed.

EA needs to win back customers ASAP. To win customers back they will have to LISTEN TO WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT!!

Sad to say, EA probably gets more feedback from the under 25 age group. Most of those people do not really want innovation and change in their games. EA games are really good for one month and then they get boring as hell.
