Dear Chicago N VA:
Please read this letter carefully for an update on your
Xbox Live® account.
This letter is to notify you of a recent issue we discovered with the Xbox Live service which has affected your Xbox Live account. You are a valued customer and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The issue occurred during the signup and recovery process when you transferred your existing Xbox Live account to an account for Xbox 360. Shortly thereafter, your ability to download or purchase content through Xbox Live Marketplace was unfortunately disabled.
As of December 13, 2005 we have addressed the issue and kindly request that you recover your account again, as this is a necessary step to fully correct your account status and restore your ability to download items from Xbox Live Marketplace.
If you have already tried to recover your account you may be encountering another related issue where your gamerscore and achievements no longer synchronize with your gameplay. To correct this, you will need to recover your account again. The new recovery process will ensure that your achievements are synchronized with your gameplay. Unfortunately, we are still working on a solution for your gamerscore.
Please take the following steps to recover your Gamertag again:
Remove any discs from the disc drive.
Make sure you are signed out. (In the Xbox Dashboard, press X.)
Go to the Xbox Live area of the Xbox Dashboard. Then select Recover Gamertag from Xbox Live.
EXIT your current session. Select Yes, when prompted.
At this point, you will receive an update to your console.
Enter your Gamertag and select Next.
Press YES to replace your profile. Enter your Passport Network e-mail address and password, then select Sign In.
Complete the remaining recovery process. (For assistance and more info, go to
Regrettably, this resolution process has two unavoidable outcomes: 1) we are unable to preserve your saved games, and 2) after completing this process, the balance of any previously purchased Microsoft® Points will be reset to zero. Please note that this latter outcome is a one-time effect of this particular issue. We understand the anguish of losing your saved games and we would like to extend our sincerest apologies.
As a valued customer, please accept a small token of our appreciation. The below listed pre-paid codes will fully reimburse you for any Microsoft Points you may have lost. In addition, we would like to offer you a bonus of 1,600 Microsoft Points.
