Killzone - PS2
I want to pick this game up. I love FPS, is the storyline and game good?Tags: None -
Re: Killzone - PS2
It's average at best. Had plenty of potential, but fell flat on it's face. Why I bought it, I'll never know. If you really need a new FPS for your PS2 though, might as well pick it up since you can get it really cheap. I'd personally say pass on the game and hope the next one is a lot better.
If you have access to an Xbox or a good PC, there are plenty of better shooters around. -

Re: Killzone - PS2
I have the 360, PC, PS2, and PSP.
I was looking at this for the PS2 because I have heard some decent things about the game and the story.
I picked up Halo again yesterday, but the game is jacked up on the 360. No widescreen support at 720p or 1080i, and it just doesn't look right at all on 480p like it did on my XBOX. Very strange.Comment

Re: Killzone - PS2
Killzone isn't horrible but the overall feel just didn't sit well with me. The game is extremely linear, basically you can't really go outside of where they want you to, and little objects on the ground not even knee high keep you on your path. The AI isn't the best.
The reloads are nice to look at, but take far too long and become more of a hassle than anything else. Gameplay wise, it feels too similar towards the end. Graphically it looks nice, but the framrate can take a bad hit a lot, there's a lot of glitching, and some bad texture load-ins.
Voice work during gameplay gets super annoying as the Helghast only have a few lines that they keep saying over and over again. Hit detection kinda feels off when shooting guys. I could go on.
If you really want a shooter for PS2 though, pick it up by all means. Everyone has different tastes. If you're going to play it online, be sure to have a good amount of memory card space open, as it needs to download a patch that is quite big.
You might enjoy it, might as well give it a try anyways. There is some fun to be had with it, but it's not something to write home about.Comment

Re: Killzone - PS2
I finally bought Killzone and have played a bit. It's not that bad of a game. I really like the war torn city landscapes, the grittyness adds to the atmosphere, the linear paths don't bother me much since I haven't played a linear game in quite sometime.
There are some problems with the game that hopefully will be fixed for the PS3 version. As much as I think the reloading is realistic, it's too damn slow. Aiming seems to be off by a bit. Your teamates are pretty dumb and enemy A.I. isn't that good. I think that the PS3 version will look really nice and hopefully it's a launch title.
I've been hearing that it's a sequel and then I hear it's a remake. I can't wait, if we get Killzone and Metal Gear Solid 4 on launch I will be a happy camper.Comment

I haven't gone through the storymode much, but I usually just play the multiplayer games. You gotta admit though, sometimes when you're shooting those rifles, some of the shots don't register and you end up wasting bullets.Comment

So far, I'm enjoying the game even though there are some annoyances.Comment

Re: Killzone - PS2
I found this and hopefully it doesn't start any kind of war around here. I guess if you are a real big fan of Killzone, you will like.....if your a Halo fan you will not like.
After giving Killzone some gaming time last week, I feel like KZ is a really good game with a few glitches and annoyances. I think that if these things are fixed by KillZone 2 for the PS2 or Killzone for the PS3 that SONY may have a new franchise to bank on. Granted there are a few issues with the original, but the story and atmosphere are really good which keep you in the game.Last edited by CaptainZombie; 01-02-2006, 08:56 PM.Comment
